A Number of us have in the past discussed the amazing 160mph+ pole lap of Keke Rosberg during the 1985 British Gp at the "original" Silverstone Circuit. There still does not appear to be any available footage of that truly incredible lap but I have just viewed on YouTube this most interesting piece by Peter Windsor.
He was a team member at Williams in that season and gives a very good and detailed account of that practice/qualifying session, even down to showing the hand written data sheets; no computer read out back then . John Charles

I have just watched the Peter Windsor piece and it is fascinating indeed and he has a nice way of telling it.
I love the part were he shows the note Patrick Head made; 161mph.
Also the part were he reminds us of the amazing speeds at the old Spa in 1973 where Ickx and Pescarolo lapped over 163mph in their Ferrari and Matra. 163mph in 1973! Wow.
Still a shame there is no recording on film of Keke's lap. You would think there must be at least an amateur recording somewhere? At least part of the lap?
