Curious, and a bit funny, that Germany - or at least the German tabloid press - are "in shock" over the Russian flag-themed Haas, and are running headlines like, "Mick drives for Putin" ... :-D

Even worse Mikael when one considers this is a team from the USA .

The Williams FW43B. Another nice livery and that leaves only Ferrari to show their 'new' car.

Ref. the new Williams 2021 car: It's really a great idea to paint all those unsightly vortex generators and turning vanes - as well as the halo - matte black. It tones down their presence a great deal.
Somehow, I came to think about the puppeteers in traditional Japanese puppet theater. Even though one can seen them on the stage, their pitch-black clothes also tones down their presence, and has become a symbol of "non-presence".

You are right Mikael and that is a very artistic way of looking at it, bravo!

And here it is... the Ferrari SF21. Not a fan of the green MW logo and hoped for a gloss finish but the two-tone red and the 'hand painted' numbers are a nice touch. But hey, it's red and it's a Ferrari! Forza! The grid is complete now and testing will start this friday. Those three days will be very interesting to follow.

I don't like the paint job very much but I am sure it will grow on me very quickly if it starts winning. I think only the 1993 livery is worse than this one. I don't like the maroon/burgundy or the matte finish. Come on Ferrari where has the artistic flair gone.

Rob, somehow I can only look at Ferrari through very rozy tinted (or should I say rosso tinted?) glasses. Like you, I think the livery will grow on me when the car has success. But when I look at Ferrari's liveries and paint jobs through my professional glasses as a designer, I have to admit they have not always done a great job and this year's car is no exception. It could look so much classier. And given Italy's tradition in design and good taste, this is even more disappointing.
Let's hope it's at least fast!

Presentation and graphics wise the Ferrari is a pretty poor show, and what the blazes is that awful bright green logo thing truly appalling colour combination. I dislike the matt finish on these cars as well, looks like they haven't got past the primer stage. i know; I know it is all about performance and matt is faster at inducing air flow or some such carp! I'm off now to seek out some more info' on the early 20th century racing like the 1911/12 Vanderbilt Cup far more interesting .

The darkening of the painting towards the back of the Ferrari gives it a weathered look - and, together with the "hand/brush-painted" numbers, a "rough" look.
But perhaps the imperfections of those numbers are a bit over the edge. In the 1950's hand-painted numbers were widely used, but in Formula One, it was always done very neatly.

the 50's cars do look good Mikael, wonder why modern Ferrari are going down the matt route?
is anyone following the testing at Bahrain?

Maybe the graduation of the red colour scheme is intended to make the car appear faster, the darkening towards the rear acts like depth perception. So even if the car isn't fast it will look quick . The roughly painted numbers are pretty poor really, they could have employed Banksy if they were trying to make an artistic statement.
