I came across this short but sweet little clip of Alain de Cadenet in a Ferrari 312PB, just beautiful and what a lucky man to sample this beautiful machine.

Here we have some footage of the 1972 Monza 1000kms which was run in rain that was of biblical dimension, both Ronnie and Jacky Ickx went off at the Parabolica on the warm up lap, just look how Ronnie blasts his 312PB out of the gravel trap.
Then a superb monochrome film of the race start, see the rain just hammering down onto the tarmac, they wouldn't even pull out of the garage today in weather like that.

An amazing acceptance of torrential rainfall that would have many of today's drivers under the covers of their motor home's king size bed. Great footage of a time to remember...

I think it just goes to show how bad the conditions were when two of the greatest talents ever to grace the sport both went off at the same place during the warm up, also they were both acknowledged as outstanding drivers in the wet. In the B&W film seeing Jacky twitch around as he approached the Parabolica was incredible; Ronnie staying about 50 metres behind and driving to one side to get a clearer view out of the spray. The most terrifying spectacle however is the marshals rescuing stuck cars in deep mud and water at the track edge with cars circulating at racing speed, that is frightening.

Wonderful footage. Those were the days and I don't believe I have to convince anyone here what I think about the 312PB!
...the Ferrari pit only minutes before the rain started...

Fabulous line up René. I have the Jacky and Ronnie Slot-It models of the 312PB myself although both are still in the box as half built kits, as they arrived from the manufacturer. The 312PB was a fantastic race car, and the sound was something else. P.S. The bit in the film of the race where Ronnie arrives on the grid holding an unopened umbrella in one hand while steering the 312PB with the other is brilliant, I take it that he did not drive the sighting lap like that .
