Another power track that will benefit the Mercs no doubt. A track where Bottas usually goes well and I have a feeling he will win here this time. Will that be enough to threaten Hamilton in the championship? Don’t think so as Lewis will probably finish second. Is there anyone else who can go for the win? That would normally be Max but this is not a good track for Red Bull. Only with another ‘crazy race’ we could possibly see a surprise podium. 30.000 fans are expected. Sounds really sound and safe at a time when infection rates are going sky high again. Why do we go there…...? Good news of the day however is that Stefano Domenicali is becoming the new F1 CEO!

after three classic circuits F1 returns to its doldrums, my sense is that Bottas is so fed up with Lewis he takes him out at the first opportunity and allows someone else to win, but I don't think it will be something I pay much attention to, there is a MotoGp race on after all
yes, that sounds like real sense letting 30,000 spectators in with a spike in virus infections,

I have zero interest in this event, just hate the place.
As for having 30,000 spectators, stuff that for a lark, raving lunatics.
Only good thing to come out of F1 news this week is Stefano taking over from the Moustache Man; Stefano is a great guy.

the good news John is Stefano, hopefully the old Ferrari mates will nobble the MB's and allow Ferrari the 'freedom' they had previously enjoyed?

Totally agree Chris, but already the nay sayers are out in force saying that he will favour Ferrari.
Strange rumours going around about Lewis Hamilton going to Fizzy Drink, anything afoot at MB. There were also rumours a few weeks back that the odious RATcliffe was going to buy out MB with his INEOS empire.

Even though I was hoping for a VB pole I must say I was very impressed by Lewis Hamilton's comeback during qualifying to take pole. A stellar lap from Max and with him and VB starting on the medium tyres against LH on the soft it could be an intriguing race.

No matter how superior the Merc is, there is no denying Hamilton's class as a driver. Had Bottas been their no.1 driver with a lesser no.2 driver, Mercedes would not have won as much as they have now. I am not even sure if Bottas would be champion this year with Max chasing him down. A bit like Barrichello and Schumacher in the early 2000's. Rubens was good, very good on his day, but would he have fought off Kimi and Juan-Pablo in the end? Not sure. Max's lap was very good, the absolute max!

Chuffed that Valteri won- he needed that. Max drove well and maxed his position. Not sure what happened to LH and Merc, they seemed to implode a bit and then LH started with the conspiracy theories. Seemed self inflicted to me. Danny Ric was pure class and in very sharp contrast to LH in the way he handled his penalty during the race.
Excellent race by Charles Leclerc.
All in all I enjoyed that one.

I had difficulty to stay enthused to be honest but good that Valtteri won. Agree Rob that Danny took the penalty much more mature than Lewis did. Just take it on the chin and get on with it.
Good races for Max and also Sergio, Danny and Charles. Drama for McLaren.
Next.

Good races for Max and also Sergio, Danny and Charles. Drama for McLaren. Next. I wasn't expecting much, and clearly neither were the announcers, when their first topic of discussion was tyres. A few weeks ago during a lull in practice, a quick discussion took place in response to a viewer asking if too much emphasis is put on tyres. The consensus of the confederacy of dunces at SkyTV was that talking about tyres adds interest, overlooking that it can only add interest if a proceeding is very dull. Martin Brundle, who knows better, was somewhere else. Poor Lewis Hamilton! It's clearly a conspiracy that Daniel Ricciardo is more mature...

i watched the truncated highlights on utub with the sound turned down but even then Croft's hysterics still managed to irritate, and it looked spectacular, well the accidents did, poignantly reminding us as to how fortunate we are in today's arena that the safety levels have improved beyond all recognition, but even in the 7 minutes I managed my indifference, although the post race comments by Bottas and Daniel were good,
I had been following it on BBC text whilst watching the MotoGP until a Lewis devotee said he was right to question his penalties as he was so competitive, which prompted me to switch that off - I know I am getting on a bit and am out of touch with that kind of 'fan' but on the other hand my word I am pleased I am

I agree Chris. One has to feel a sort of avuncular compassion towards the younger fans and their views.

I had about 10 minutes of the event on my computer while waiting for the MotoGP race to begin and paid scant attention to it, turned it off when I saw the full grandstands. I suppose they all had Putrids amazing new vaccine before being allowed to attend.
Thank goodness that is now out of the way.
