Almost forgot! It's Le Mans weekend! Kamui Kobayashi on pole for Toyota and it will be the last 24 Hours for the current LMP1 cars, a race Toyota must surely win...
Toyota GT-One, one of the best looking prototypes ever.

it is good that the race is going ahead, but the Toyota's are so far ahead it makes it a bit of a nonsense, not sure about next year's cars but anything is better than what is happening here- however, there is some great racing lower down, and we are going to be overwhelmed by just how much racing is happening this weekend

In a different league. But the racing is actually quite good and it's always great to see cars going around La Sarthe at full speed. But strange with the empty grandstands. Like Indy this is normally a mega event but good to see it go ahead nonetheless.

I think the Toyota GT-One was the last good looking Le Mans prototype. Since then they have become uglier and uglier. If it wasn't for the GTE cars I wouldn't even bother to tune into Le Mans. Jen Todt must be very pleased with his time as head of the FIA. He has managed to completely destroy any form of competition for winning both Le Mans and F1.

I agree these prototypes are not really nice looking. It's a shame as they used to be the best looking race cars. Hypercars next year! Anyway, the race was actually quite good as the Rebellion team kept Toyota honest. A great achievement for a privateer team.

hear hear Rob, I have Eurosport and they overwhelmed us with their coverage but quite frankly if it wasn't for the GTE cars it was not a lot of fun, but as you say Rene, Hypercars next year, not sure exactly what that will mean but once Audi and Porsche pulled out the whole thing became almost meaningless

I still miss the now ancient Porsche and Ferrari prototypes. Early Audi too...

I did tune in every now and then but it was uninspiring to me personally and anyway the motorcycles took priority over the weekend. As I have a Eurosport package I viewed through this but the commentary was so bad with the lead commentators voice being unbearable with his awful enunciation. Where the hell were the Radio Le Mans team with their excellent and knowledgable commentary.
The LMP cars are the ugliest things known to mankind; Oh! for the days of glorious Sports Prototypes that do not offend the eye. I have long held the belief that the race should be for GT cars now, they are fast enough and spectacular, plus there could be so many major manufacturers taking part; also the racing would be close as we have seen in the class divisions.
