Some very good comments above. It was a strange race to say the least.
I had the same thought about the size of the cars. They are just way too big and on a classic track like Mugello it shows even more. Before the race, Mick Schumacher did a demonstration run in his father's F2004 and Nico Hülkenberg commented on German tv about how small and compact these cars were compared to modern cars. It wasn't clear to me which he actually preferred though.
They also showed Sebastian having a close look at the F2004 and he was like a little kid. He said it was his all time favourite car and he actually tried to buy one but it was too expensive! Just imagine. But that was fun.
The race itself was a disappointment except for Charles doing the impossible on the first few laps. The Mercedes dominance is really hard to swallow, even more so because Bottas is not a real match for Lewis. He's a good driver and often very close in qualifying but when it really matters he drops the ball. It's no shame to lose from Lewis but it does make it harder to watch like this.
The safetycar restart accident was very dangerous and I don't really see how you could blame the drivers here as JC already said. The safety of modern Grand Prix cars is unbelievable though. In the old days this would have been a tragedy.
Very nice to see young Albon on the podium!

This was more a vulgar conspiracy to force a beautiful road course against its will than a race.
Spa and Mugello, two beautiful race tracks, two Grand Prix spoiled by Merc dominance and the team's desire not to give LH a whiff of competition from anyone. I see that Hamilton has scored more pole positions in the Mercedes than Senna did in his whole ten year career. That shows the superiority of the Mercedes car. Like Schumacher, Hamilton may statistically have won the most races. championships, noddy badges etc but it will not make him the greatest. Talking of Schumacher, there is a new seven part documentary on Sky called the Race To Perfection and it is about the last 70 years of F1. I have seen half of Ep 1 and it looks good. What I haven't seen in it yet, but read about it, was that Massa revealed that Schumacher intentionally parked his car at the last corner in qualifying back in 2006. Another incident that takes the gloss off his achievements. Oh yeah, and disappointed to be penalized for doing so. He'd been led to believe he could do no wrong since Adelaide.

Yes, hopefully a hint to the designers (and the "lawmakers" i.e. FIA) regarding the runaway dimensions of the cars. But isn't the 2021 concept car downsized a bit, compared with the present cars? Looking at photos like the one below, it seems to be of much more "harmonic" dimensions (than the present cars).

I suspect that whenever Hamilton feels threatened by a teammate (for which he has a very low threshold), word gets passed to Toto and then to Valtteri Bottas, who'd do far better without intimidation from an insecure prima donna.
