High-end sport cars - so-called super-cars - never took my fancy; probably (admittedly) because they, economically, are out of reach for me.
But the latest McLaren, designed by Gordon Murray, is actually a "throwback" to the Brabham BT46 "fan car". That's certainly something different! - and kind of interesting ...

It does look really interesting and apparently is much smaller than current supercars.

Mikael, There is a brilliant 45 minute interview with Gordon Murray about this car on YouTube currently, saw it last evening. It is an amazing vehicle indeed with many advanced features so typical of Gordon. It isn't a McLaren by the way it is a Gordon Murray Designs vehicle in which only 100 are being built, all pre ordered. The engine is a special Cosworth V12 built to Gordon's exacting standards, and he is effusive in his praise for what they have achieved. JC

JC,
thank you for the link; I will be looking forward to watching the movie.
Yes, there's a lot, apparently, with that car that harks back to the glory years of Formula One: the V-12 engine, the manual transmission (with a good old gear stick/shifter), and the short wheelbase. The overall `look' is also classic - and timeless.
On another matter, I cannot help thinking: if only someone - someone like Gordon Murray - would dare to come up with a 'fresh' approach to Formula One design - something that possibly would stand the present "mould" on its head.

He did Mikael and if you listen to his podcast on the MotorSport Magazine site, it may also be on YouTube, he says that they incorporated many of his ideas in the formula starting in 2022.

Thank you Rob. That's great - and good 'news' for me. I can understand that I ought to catch up on that podcast with him.

There are some very good podcasts there that I also need to catch up on. I think I will forgo the Eddie Jordan one though especially as I recently discovered he used to cheat his way into business class!

It is an incredible vehicle Mikael with some wonderful and exquisite touches like the gear shift and mechanism. Mind you it should be at £1 million per car, and lucky that those who can afford one have the money. Gordon Murray is so compelling to listen to however, I could hear him talk for hours,

It certainly looks the real deal, and with a beautiful V12 it will sound gorgeous
