that is interesting Mikael, 13 seconds faster than the great Turbo days, these incredible modern machines are something special and technically they are just, for me, out of this world, but I would rather the Turbo era every and any day,
Jochen Mass did the same at Silverstone in a Porsche 936 one year in the streaming rain,
It just felt that it was Lewis and the rest and no one is close, why didn't Bottas get penalised for the jump start? and I see Renault are protesting racing point again, the start was great but after 1 minute of Croft screaming I shut the commentary off, why does he have to shout? well driven by Lewis and Max and I just cannot see anyone getting close to Lewis and his 100th championship, and as you say Rene thankfully a short season

An excellent race with several intense battles for position throughout, although less exciting between laps 35 and 42 when I dozed off. The greater power of Mercedes, its superior basic design and the presumed advantage of dual axis steering make them insurmountable. They are faster in cruise mode than the other teams at 9/10ths.
The FIA should consider allowing Ferrari to use last year's engine configuration, especially if Renault's expected protest that Lance Stroll's eyebrows are moveable aerodynamic devices is upheld.
Chris, I turn the sound way down at the start, the only way I can listen to David Croft. The always excellent Martin Brundle is the only one worth a damn.

Yes, a race that was a pleasure to watch :-) The changing (drying) conditions -and the threat of returning rain - contributed to it, I think. So did also the lack of processions behind a safety car. (Impressive that there was only one single retirement, and that was due to a blown engine (Gasly).)

Some interesting additions to the 2020 F1 calendar; Imola, Nürburgring and the Algarve circuit. I am looking very much forward to see these current monsters on the Imola track and the lap times they can do. The Nürburgring usually produces good races and good to have a race in Germany. The Algarve track is new to F1 so that's always nice. An interesting calendar is shaping up so far with a few positives that would not have happened under 'normal' circumstances.

Actually Rene I was thinking the same thing last night ie that we had been spared a lot of the Tilke tracks this year and most of the racing would be on old school tracks. I also rather like the compressed nature of the championship. Get it all over in six months and then give one something else to do.
In fact they could do WSC over six months followed by F1 over six months.

Terrific news hearing the conformation that Imola; Nurburgring and Portimao have been placed on the 2020 calendar, they should really show up the terrible Tilkadooms that are so prevalent now. Hopefully they will get such rave reviews these tracks will become permanent fixtures once more. I also thought that Mugello was going to be included but that appears to have gone quiet.
All we need now is Brands Hatch, we can but dream.

The Italian Grand Prix in Monza, then the Tuscany GP in Mugello and then the Emiglia-Romagna GP in Imola! Oh Brands Hatch, that would be wonderful... "Tilkadooms"

"Tilkadooms" Brilliant with Mugello included, I just hadn't seen that written anywhere, lack of observation on my part . Brands would be incredible and with the technology of air-fences now it would not be out of the question, the European GP could be brought back for that; Oh! wait the Uk are not wanting anything that could be associated with Europe these days. Pleased you liked the term "Tilkadoom"; a moment of inspiration .
