My models of my Ferraris etc that I showed on this site didn't make the trip across unscathed I am afraid. Oh well I had fun building them but still feel a bit sad.

Can any be restored? Your 1/12th scale 312PB... simply beautiful! Thank you for the support Carl. I can fix the 312pb probably but need to get over the initial sadness and buckle down. The other ones have some major structural damage. It is never quite the same repairing something as it is building new. Currently I am working on a 1/12 1967 Eagle in memory of Dan Gurney.

aww Rob, that is awful my friend, but it could become a realistic project, taking photos [and sharing them please] as the rebuild commences and the car is restored to its former glory, just like so many real cars Rob,
The Eagle sounds brilliant, some photos would be great

Rob, That is desperate news indeed; I really hope that you can salvage something from the damage. When I moved to France I was very concerned about the transportation of my large model collection mainly of hand built 1/43rd scale kits. My other half was also concerned and took it upon herself to carefully pack each and every model. We used large rigid plastic storage containers (the type that can go under a bed etc); the bottom of each container was linked with a section of old bedding duvet then each model wrapped in tissue and placed in a poly bag before being covered in granular Perlite. All told they transported well with some small damage to the very fragile models, but their journey was not like the one your works of art had to endure. John Charles

Sorry to hear that and I can imagine how that feels. When transporting my own collection many years ago I packed them all myself and transported them by car myself. But that was not possible for you of course.
High detail models and especially the hand build ones are very fragile and really not suited for (long) transport. I hope you find the energy to restore at least part of your magnificent collection.

Thanks for the support guys much appreciated. Rob, The 1/12th scale Eagle Weslake should be an amazing project, can't imagine how that beauty will look in the grandeur of such a large scale. It will be a fitting tribute to the great man. JC
