Having relocated to my old country, I found that a supermarket chain now is selling the huge book "Formel 1" (2018), of Danish motorsport journalist Peter Nygård, to 1/3 of the recommended price. That I could not resist.
It's a large book indeed; 32 X 27 cm, with a bit more than 700 pages in high-quality paper, so it's seriously heavy! It outlines the whole history of F1, starting with "year one" of the World Championship, 1950. A particularly attractive point is the large number of excellent photos. Some very sharp colour photos from the first decade, the 1950's, are particularly impressive. The writing is also good and informative.
One can only hope that an international edition will appear at some time. The book is certainly worthy of that.
On a related note, the author is a real F1-fan if there ever was one. He's well-known here in Denmark for having an original Formula 1 car (a 1993 Tyrrell-Yamaha) sitting in his living room.
Peter Nygård's "Formel 1". The standard "Penguin Books" are shown just to scale.
1950's
1960's
1970's

Mikael, that looks like a really great book. I would buy that for the pictures alone. You might have shown the standard Penguin books just for scale but the title/subject is no less relevant! Very subtle.

Excellent news to hear that you are now firmly back in your home country Mikael and hope that your family are back with you soon if they are not already.
That book looks fantastic and the pictures are wonderful, the 1950's in particular have a very special feel as to me it was an era that was so romantic in feel.
I recall that Peter Nygård wrote for a British magazine around 20 years ago (approximately), can't remember which one it was but at the time I thought he was some new comer from the UK. That has cleared my understanding up about the man.
Great bit of observation from René concerning the book title, and very poignant at these very difficult times. I am intrigued by the shape of the coffee table Mikael as I made one myself in that exact design shape back in 1978 when at college doing a further course in Design & Technology. Mine however was produced with a pine top and forged steel legs.

René, yes, it's interesting to read (or re-read) Camus's "The Plague" (La Peste) at this time. It's very sad, though, that it has become so relevant yet again.
In this relation, some time ago I came across (and bought) the highly praised book "Homo Deus - A Brief History of Tomorrow" (by Y. N. Harari, 2016), as it was highlighted in a bookstore I visited. In it, the author argues that we (the humankind) now have conquered (almost) all diseases and that, "events like the Black Death and the Spanish Flu are now things of the past". Well, not quite yet; it turned out to be good deal too optimistic, unfortunately.
JC, I came across the little coffee table in a budget furniture store in the centre of Aarhus. (I needed something, as the container with furniture yet has to arrive.) It might have affected the impulse buy that it has the shape, approximately, of a Wankel-engine rotor . I'm sure that my wife (who will remain in Japan for yet a little while) will roll her eyes at it when she sees it .

Looks really good Mikael. As per the title of the book next to it could it be referring to Covid-19 or Bernie and Max? Some other books that might be of interest in times like these. 1984 by George Orwell and On the Beach by Neville Shute.

I bought a very nice Ferrari book by Peter Nygaard at one of my favourite online model car shops for an absolute bargain! There are many wonderful photographs in the book I had never seen before so really pleased with it. It's in German by the way.

Great photographs. Clearly the Nurburgring, by the concrete sections, and the historic pits at Monaco by the ambience. Not sure where the photo of Villeneuve was taken, maybe Watkins Glen, but the Armco is too dark blue. My rudimentary German now includes "am Steuer" from the caption, meaning "at the steering wheel".

That looks like a very good book René, even more so if at a bargain price.
I have used this German company to purchase some of my 1/43rd Spark models in the past, they are very good. Currently using another German supplier for my most recent ones, all very professional.
