Here is "Paso" in full racing gear and with at the time his newly adopted helmet scheme copied from a very well known English racer whose one (of many) claims to fame related to Agostini:- Who is he? What is the Ago relationship with regard to a race? In that race what machine was he riding? So, a little research on 'Paso' tells me that the mystery English rider is John Cooper, a rider I've vaguely heard of but know nothing about really.... Looking forward to being enlightened RE: his relationship with Ago and the bike he's on Charles đź‘Ť

Well done Jamie, it is indeed John "Moon Eyes" Cooper a very good British rider that spanned the 60's & 70's. Very successful on the British short circuit scene he also did well when making rare appearances on the GP circuit. Always a privateer riding Manx Norton machinery until he joined the factory BSA team to ride the 750 Rocket "3" bikes.
It was on these bikes that the Ago connection comes about. In 1971 at the prestigious Mallory Park Race of the Year John Cooper beat Ago by three fifths of a second after a race long battle, thus a legend was born.
Incidentally in the photo of "Moon Eyes" on his Manx Norton you can see right behind him No 19 Bill Ivy and No 53 South African Paddy Driver both on the beautifully turned out Tom Arter G50 matchless machines and just visible behind them is the great short circuit ace Derek Minter. Ivy & Driver have something in common, in that they both turned to race cars. Bill Ivy made a sensational debut in the Thruxton Easter Monday F2 race driving a year old Brabham entered I believe by none other than Bernie Ecclestone, Bill was sensationally quick and looked to have a great future in cars but sadly died a short while later when riding a works Jawa which seized up on him.
Paddy Driver raced cars in South Africa for some years in the 1970's, one being a Team Gunston Lotus 72.

I knew this was too easy! Any idea what car or at what track this picture was taken? I’d guess it’s his alpine F3 car so 68, possibly 67?? No idea where 👍

Close enough Jamie! It's the Alpine A280 Renault F3, Pau GP 1967. Very good.

1950's relatively obvious I should imagine, but who is he and what year, venue pretty obvious.

The car seems to be a mid-50s Mercury Monterey with dual exhausts and without wheel covers. Although the young man seems furtive about what may be inside the trunk, it's too late for moonshine shenanigans. The cuffs folded up on his jeans is vintage mid-50s also.
The Sunoco gas pump suggests it may be Roger Penske.

I have no idea but Carl's suggestion sounds plausible and cool.

Rene, While it could be Penske, the mechanic's shop rag suggests the young man works at the gas station or is the son of the car's owner, seen silhouetted through the side window. Roger Penske is the right age and the intense gaze may be the beginning of an infatuation with Sunoco. But he'd more likely have worn prep-school slacks and leather loafers, interned in a bank and driven a 1957 C1 Corvette with a leather interior matching his loafers. It's possible that budding entrepreneur Penske convinced aspiring actor John Cassavetes to work at the gas station in exchange for publicity. John Charles is probably laughing at our bewilderment > Cheers, Carl

Carl & Jamie,
Very good efforts indeed with sound reasoning, but it isn't Penske or any of the Unser's. Spot on with dating the image though Carl; it is 1955 to be precise.

Wild guess, is it Mario Andretti? I checked his age and that would mean he is 15 in the photo. I would have guessed the young man is a bit older but it's not impossible.
