Can Andrea Dovizioso carry his strong form from the Red Bull Ring to Silverstone? Like in F1 the championship seems already decided but with Dovi back on form and a sensational Fabio Quartararo there is enough to look forward to!
The good old days...

the above is still the 'best' British Moto Gp I've seen - shame about the result but hey, be better than tomorrow's.
I really do wish I was there tomorrow, but just not organised enough, so TV it will be and with the weather predicted as el schorchio it is going to be interesting with 3 Yams in the top 4 and that pesky Honda there as well, with the grunt of the Dukes on Hangar straight could be one helluva race, as usual my optimism outweighs my logic - it would be great to see the Quatt win, a Frenchman winning at Silverstone has a nice ring to it, and maybe next year that will be the case, but i have plumbed for Vinales, just hope he remembers how to get around the 1st lap and a welcome return to Lorenzo
Moto2 Sam is up there, just hope he keeps it the right way up and John in 3 is down a bit but expect him to be right up there after today
but at least as yesterday at Headingly indicated at least I won't be conflicted by my interest in Test cricket, mutter mutter, a great day, a great crown, awful cricket - please do better

After watching qualifying today I have gone for Valentino Rossi to win, much to my own amazement. He looks very good this weekend and its thanks to him that Marquez put in his own pole lap, yet again Marquez following another rider and using them as a marker to get his "fantastic" pole time.
Also in the train following Valentino was Jack Miller by far the most impressive Ducati and even more so considering he was using an old bike from earlier in the year and fitted with an old and tired engine, great ride Jack.

way to go Valle, whilst being very effective what Marquez does by following folk it still remains a bit sneaky doesn't it? it is a very sunny forecast so hopefully we can have some rays of brilliance throughout the grids,
methinks Jack is proving a point, one can't help but wonder at the Ducati's - they just don't seem to have it hooked up as well this year but the Suzi's are looking good, and interesting the commentators were saying something about Lorenzo at Suzuki? I wonder,
what is good is that Silverstone is [despite the layout] looking good, and the new surface seems very effective

A really excellent British Grand Prix from Silverstone run in amazingly high temperatures of 30 degrees C; the hottest race of the year and held in the UK, quite abnormal!
A brilliant result for Alex Rins and Suzuki and not one of the pre-race favourites either. He just seemed to be coasting along behind Marquez and used his head and race craft to perfection. Marquez certainly did not see that coming on the last corner. The Suzuki is a beautiful motorcycle, probably the best handling machine and the engine gets stronger all the time and is no longer left breathless on the straights.
The first corner accident was horrendous and thankfully Dovi wasn't too badly knocked about, it could have been far, far worse. Young Fabio Quartararo is showing his inexperience even if he had blistering speed and he will become a major factor as time progresses. However even if all the media keep banging on about him, I am minded to think that Johan Zarco's first season on the Tec3 Yamaha M1 was more impressive. Which makes Zarco's current plight even more unfortunate, hopefully he will get a decent machine to show those talents once more.
Absolutely steaming at times with the stupid producer of the coverage who kept showing pit shots when all we wish to see is action on the flaming track, the worst had to be the constant cutting back to Alex Marquez after he had thrown his bike down the road, all the while a huge battle was raging on track. Who the hell wishes to see "artistic" shots of the younger Marquez backside following his off and seeing him trudge back to the pits. Is it Formula Marquez now I ask myself? The same after the MotoGP race when we should have been shown more of Alex Rins the race winner, we had to see runner up and beaten Marc Marquez on his cooling down lap.
In Moto3 disappointing for John McPhee who looked strong all race, not the result we were hoping for, but at least he has a good contract with the same team for 2020.

el scorchio!! especially after last year's debacle Silverstone must be over the moon [sun?] - it was very very hot yesterday, so much so had to listen to the cricket outside [did I mention the cricket?]
Well, big fan of that Suzuki, not necessarily the management or Rins, and wondered what the team would have been like with Iannone- or with a satellite team with dream team of Lorenzo and Zarco, methinks they would wipe the championship away from everyone, on a more level note I think it unlikely for Suzuki to have a satellite team but I would love to see those two on Suzuki's. What is interesting is that superhero Marquez is has now been beaten on the last lap twice in a row, I still think he is odds on to be WRC again, but these flaws are showing, which is interesting to hear what his sycophantic friends may say about that, sorry the commentators, very little I suspect
The first corner accident was awful and frustrating, but I think some of the blame should be laid at Rin's door, he had a moment which caused Quart to have a bigger moment and poor Dovi - who had made an excellent start to have a nasty, the yams flattered to decieve and were not that impressive, but another Spanish 1,2,3 cannot be good for an international sport. Ducati were awful, Petrucci seems to have gone backwards and I wonder what is going on behind the scenes, lets face it a certain Spaniard would be winning now.
I don't seem to have had the same coverage John, albeit I was trying to listen to the cricket as well as watch [did I mention the cricket?] the race - having not long been in from my own motorbike ride to Kelso, wonderful roads and witnessed over 100 bikes going t'other way in a tribute to Steve Hislop - many wearing pink tops and that was extremely impressive- but the coverage of the main race was quite good, and at last showed some of the lower order fighting, but that last lap overtake was just brilliant - well ridden Alex Rins, less so Alex Marquez, and yes that was irritating to constantly watch the repeats of that accident, disappointing for the Brits, 2020 can't come quick enough for Alex, another sinned and binned, and Smithy was not quick, but then it appears that bike has had a number of riders none of whom have done well -
John, was on the soft tyre and I wonder if that was a mistake, it is good for the first time he is with the same team two years running, so hopefully they will bring him a WRC next year an do believe that Amos-whatever also has a ride for next year, a few more Brits in Moto 2020 would be most welcome, especially if they start winning

Chris,
I was under the impression that he feed was the same for all outlets, just as in F1. I have seen other comments elsewhere about some commenters being annoyed at the following of the beaten Marquez on the cool down lap, and much less time being exposed to the eventual winner Alex Rins.
I think Rins is a very good rider, and he does not come across as an overpowering character either; also like Maverick they do not get on with Marquez, no love lost at all. I believe that Suzuki were wrong not to honour the pre-contract they had with Johann Zarco, but obviously to then the signing of a Spanish rider (Alex Rins) was of more importance both commercially and politically. As I have mentioned earlier i like Alex and think he is a very good rider and improving all the time, however lets not forget that Zarco beat him two years running in Moto2.
Your idea of Johann and Lorenzo forming a partnership on satellite Suzuki's would be fantastic for the sport, but sadly unlikely. However it appears that the Avintia team have secured a full factory machine for Tito Rabat in 2020 which would probably rule out Ducati as they will now have to provide Parmac with two full spec 2020 bikes next season. So there is speculation that it will be Suzuki that provide Avintia with a factory bike for Rabat.

that is interesting John, Rabat is a pretty good rider and one of the bravest but I would hesitate to put him near Zarco and especially how Zarco's style would seriously compliment the Suzi, but stranger things happen and being Spanish seems to get you more opportunities these days.
I may be wrong about the coverage as I was slightly distracted by the cricket and the beginnings of a cold, but in Max's column he also speaks of why Quad went down and he also feels that it was a chain reaction caused by Rins, whom I have respect for - especially how he learnt to develop his riding style, by basically copyng Lorenzo,
there is a test coming up next week so it will be interesting to see what is happening with Lorenzo,
what I don't quite understand is Alex Marquez, I do sense there is a MotoGP deal arranged for 2021 but with whom?
