Albon to Red Bull and Gasly to Torro Rosso as from the next GP.

Rob, I am not surprised they demoted Gasly. I actually expected this move although it's very harsh for Pierre and likely damaging for his F1 career.
The choice for Albon is at first glance more surprising though. Kvyat seemed more obvious but I do understand the reasoning. Alexander has shown great potential and some guys just flourish in F1 while other talented drivers struggle at the highest level.
As I said, harsh for Pierre but exciting to see how Albon will handle Max and the Bull.

One thing this proves is the fact that you cannot trust the word of the management at the Fizzy Drink team. Only last week Horner was saying that Gasly was good until the end of the season . There is no doubt that Pierre has talent but he was one case of a driver being brought on too soon, and any young driver being paired with Verstappen is going to be up against it, both due to Max's undoubted speed and the teams adoration for him. Alexander Albon could be up against it, but maybe he won't and surprise everyone. I didn't realise until I read today that the young man was a former World Karting Champion, so he has impeccable credentials. I would love it if he took it to Verstappen and punctured his inflated bubble. I see on the MS Forum they are all in overdrive about the possibility of Vettel rejoining Team FD, I have the feeling that Mark Hughes has lead some of those clowns by the nose, judging by the comments seen on there .

I can't believe some of the comments or the number on that topic Charles. I see Ray in Toronto is in full cry once again and painful they are. He had some really nasty comments on one or two of the other articles linking the Mercedes team to the Nazis. I was disgusted and pointed it out to Motor Sport who did finally delete them.

It is becoming very cruel in F1 wrt drivers, not something I take much joy from. I do like Albon though and look forward to seeing him do well and like Charles mentined reduce some of the hype around Max. I guess VB may be the next guy in the firing line. I hope not as I think he is a good guy.

I’m torn with this news chaps......a mixture of excitement and trepidation for Alex. The RB environment is very much sink or swim and this could be way too soon, I’d rather he had finished the season at TR but he’s hardly likely to turn this down is he??
I really want Alex to do well so I hope he gets in there and shows his class.

I have the impression he is mentally strong.

I did get the feeling that Gasly was on a hiding to nothing, if you get destablised early on it becomes so much more difficult to re-establish confidence in these and lets face it ruthless management team, it would be ironic if he started to beat the RB's now, then what would they say, I think aside from their indifference to the consequences of their action it is the fact they believe they are never wrong, I think Alex will do well as he has that inner belief and well, he is not in the same place as Gasly so in a way he cannot lose
must be something in the water, as KTM and Zarco have announced their split albeit at year end -

Rob, It was part pure poison, and the rest absolute childish playground nonsense. Forgetting the vitriol expressed by our former commentator which is pretty much as you suggest, but the rest are not what i would call genuine motor sport enthusiasts, totally pathetic. I actually saw your recent response to R in T on MS, I think he must have been imbibing too many. Motorsport need to get a grip on that shower as they are not doing the once great magazine any credit at all, and their reputation will descend to that of some of the other truly awful sites. JC

I think the poison at Red Bull spews mostly from Helmut Marko, whose treatment of drivers is always erratic and sometimes verges on sadistic manipulation.

It's quiet on the forum. Hmm, maybe I should write something controversial... or do an MPH and speculate about the driver market? Did you guys hear that Lewis signed a Ferrari contract?
