The Lotus 16 was largely unsuccessful but a real beauty. I had two with my very first Scalextric set, one green and the other pale blue. The former was truly awful as the motor ran excessively hot and had little power, in more modern times it would have been taken back for replacement but we didn't do things like that back in the early 1960's.
I always remember that the Lotus 16 was much more successful in Historic racing back in the late 1970's early 80's especially with a very mature ex Grand prix privateer Bruce Halford driving, who seemed to win every time I saw him race one in that period.
Chris I am deeply envious of your recent trip to the Jim Clark Museum, it sounds as though you had a great time, and bought some lovely souvenirs. Hopefully you sort the photo issues out.
