I bought a great book on Jacky Ickx in a shop at the Nürburgring. It's the officially authorized biography by Pierre van Vliet. It covers Ickx's entire career from a young motor cycle rider to rallying, from racing Cortinas and Mustangs, F3, F2 and then Formula 1. And of course the sportscars and Le Mans. GT40s, Ferraris, Porsches. And the last chapter about Paris-Dakar. It's a really nice book with great photos, many I had never seen before so for anyone who's interested in the career of the great Belgian I can very much recommend this book. link to Jacky Ickx book

cheers Rene, that does look interesting, I have always admired Jacky, right from 67 and that amazing practice lap at the Ring, would love to hear your views on it once read please Rene, I do wonder if it includes the incidents with John Taylor, an accident I never found out how it happened, the tragedy with Stefan at Spa, and Monaco with Prost and Senna, and of course Stefan in that epic and controversial 1984 race.
But overall what a wonderful career and as I say someone I have always admired and seen a number of times

That will be a very good book; Jacky Ickx is a remarkable man who was an outstanding driver in so many different disciplines. Can there be anyone near as versatile who has won Grand Prix; Sports Prototype and then the Paris Dakar Rally.
I did see the book advertised on the big online store that everyone loves and hates; very tempted to get it.

Ooo, that does look good. Looking forward to a review René 👍 I have not started reading it yet, my recommendation is solely based on the presentation and photographs. But when I have I will write a review for sure! I was lucky as I got it for only €20,-, a real bargain (even if it is in German! )

Just been watching a review of the Goodwood Festival of Speed with an excellent piece about the 1969 Le Man win, Jacky as articulate as ever.....what a superstar he was looking back, so versatile and talented, and dignified with it. One of our sport’s iconic figures.
My collection is missing a good Ickx book so I await your review with interest René.
