On the subject of the MFH 1/12th scale 312T I find it hard to understand as to what level of alteration or modification is required to be made in a kit of that price range.
From the early/mid 70's until the mid 90's I have built quite literally hundreds of kits, mostly white metal or resin 1/43rd scale. In the early days many of these were quite rudimentary and needed a lot of work to make them into what i would term acceptable models. As the years progressed these kits became far more sophisticated, particularly with the addition of photo-etched parts.
Now it is with these photo-etched parts that I would expect some work to be needed, such as bending and shaping them into 3D sections. The need to re-adjust the resin parts by heating is something I have not encountered previously and have the distinct feeling that the material does not lend itself to such manipulation. In the past I have had to straighten out a warped resin casting of a rear wing, but believe me it isn't something one does without some trepidation as even with heating they can snap (heating by the way by immersing the part in hot water). I also recall having to twist back into shape a saloon car body shell that was badly warped, that wasn't for the feint of heart either.
Anyhow as others have mentioned the finished results of these MFH kits is outstanding, and to be honest at the price they charge they darn well should be. It just illustrates what excellent value the Tamiya 1/12 scale model kits were.
