Viñales looked super fast on the friday. Can he continue this form into qualifying? Márquez will be strong as always but what about the Ducati boys? Rossi also looking good!

Viñales big issue is racing with full fuel tanks at the beginning of the race, or more specifically on this current Yamaha. Rossi has this managed very well but not Maverick.
I cannot see anyone beating Marquez in Austin personally, unless he gets one of his brain fade scenarios.
Apparently the riders are having huge issues with the track surface which had become very bumpy and uneven, to the extent that some are saying they cannot foresee being there next year without a complete resurface. No doubt cars have had a huge impact on this degradation.

it has been a real roller-coaster of a meeting thus far, the bumps are dreadful and I do worry that they may produce a sight we don't want to see, i.e. an accident, I wonder if COTA will have to make a choice between MotoGP and F1 at some stage?
Marquez looks even more impressive every-time I see and now hear him, but the Honda and he are fallible, I do think he is the clear favourite but Cal and Rossi are up there and with Rossi up front and personal he may well be a real contender - Maverick I think can play a part towards the end, but well done to KTM on qualifying. Miller is another who I see being very rapid early in the race and maybe messing up the initial stages and at this stage can really see him in the works Ducati team next year- as for Dovi, I think he will be interesting
Moto2 looks and sounds even better every race, and it is a real lottery but looks so much better than previous years
Moto3 - I do so prefer the new qualifying process, this is something Mat Oxley and I disagree with, and could be an epic race
and there is an Indycar race at Long Beach, my favourite street circuit? awww
But the worst scenario this weekend of a lot of motor sport? Assen, the cathedral of speed qualifying postponed due to snow, my thoughts are with you Rene, I was contemplating going out for a ride this morning, but sanity may win over ambition here, gosh its cold! but hopefully there will be racing there today

I somehow had the feeling all weekend that Marquez was going to bin the bike at this race. Due to limited dry running in practice etc it was more or less inevitable that it would happen in the race, as "Marvellous Mark" always manages to chuck it at the scenery at least once every race meeting.
So pleased for young Alex Rins and Suzuki, that was a most deserved win, and i bet maverick is thinking why the blazes did I swap that peach of a motorcycle for the Yamaha. Not a Rossi fan, but boy the old chap is riding well this year so credit where credit is due that was a cracking performance and he is stringing the results together so do not write him off yet. Jack Miller is another I have had a hard time warming to talent wise, but he completely destroyed the other Ducati's all meeting, so top ride.
Having said this COTA is in extremely bad shape and now completely unsuited to motorcycle racing with a track surface the way it is now.

Carl I think it dates back to the days when there was real scenery surrounding a circuit, or shall we say some over eager road driver with more ambition than talent!! Today on a race track its more like sliding along a "run off" the size of an International Airport, or ploughing through a gravel trap! Neither of the latter has the imagery of the initial quote. I do think Maverick expected to be world champ by now and is probably feeling more like world chump - he is good and I would certainly put him talent wise in the top 3 out there, but Rossi is the one who is delivering and I do think the odds of Rossi winning another race are quite high,
I rated Miller for some time and fully expect him in the works team next year with Bagnia the following year
what i do like is that there are some very good younger drivers breaking through and Morbidelli especially I can see n the works team next year and Rossi to WSB? what do you reckon?
looking forward to Jerez in a couple of weeks time and I do so hope the Brits have a better weekend than they all had in COTA - all of them! in all categories
incidentally the 1st BSB race this year is taking place this weekend at Silverstone, with the weather looking good I am surely tempted to venture down the old M1 and avoid the lunatics with their mobile phones and the idiots who object to motorcycles and the twits who don't see us despite lights and all, well maybe not as I believe it is on Quest - mmm one to contemplate

I couldn't get too enthused about visiting Silverstone these days, so would opt for Quest which i did not realise was the platform for transmission this coming weekend, good news as i can get that on my computer. Should be a cracking event to kick off the season and the weather looks like being incredible, it is already warming up here with the sun now having quite some heat in it; mid twenties over the weekend a possibility. John- i have decided that i will be watching it on TV or Eurosport but only after an early morning blast as I realised the Silverstone race is on the national circuit and being Bank Holiday the traffic will be hell, so an early morning ride in the sunshine sounds so good, will try and get to Duns and pay my respects
i am really looking forward to the series and see how Scott goes, he has a tough team-mate and a lack of knowledge of a lot of the circuits, it will be strange without Shakey who is impressing as a pundit and a lot of changes in teams, my other special interest is the wee McKenzie and look forward to seeing him a few
