I see that Model Factory Hiro have just announced that they will make an Alfa 33 TT-12 in 1/12 scale.......I’m extremely tempted by one of these.....must get the Libra done first though.

Sounds like a great project Jamie. Such a beautiful race car and I'm sure Rob can give you some good advise how to go about with such a quality kit. Cool.
I made this picture in 2016 of the real car in the Spa-Francorchamps Museum in Stavelot.

isn't that gorgeous, a thing of beauty and of menace and power, now is that Italian Red? It is gorgeous Chris, a great car. And very Italian red but don't forget that Ferrari always used a brighter red compared to Alfa or Maserati, also in the old days.

Rene - do we have any colour pictures of the 1954 Italian F1 cars? the Lancia, The Maserati, the Ferrari and the 1952 Alfa 159 just so I can compare? - I can find them just can't post them, I will get around to posting some pictures from Race Retro when I remember how I post them - sorry
I was always a bit confused by national colour schemes, we had Scottish blue aka Rob Walker but British Racing Green, never quite understood that -

I know the Lancia D50 for instance was darker in original Lancia specification... ... before it became a Ferrari and it was repainted with a brighter red. But even the Ferrari red is not always exactly the same red.

I know the Lancia D50 for instance was darker in original Lancia specification... Always interesting to see photos of the finest machinery of its time - being worked on in the dirt! That was found possible even in the 1970's (the photo below is a re-posting of one previously posted by JC). It changed radically in the 1980's, I believe. At that time, even motocross mechanics moved indoors, into closed tents.
