Gents, It’s the Bathurst 12 hr GT race this weekend, always a brilliant event and one of the world’s best circuits. Fantastic race last year so I’m hoping for more of the same. Loads of streaming options for this one, details are on the official website below: www.bathurst12hour.com.au/news/liqui-moly-bathurst-12-hour-coverage-guide/January is a great month for SportsCar racing!

I will definitely be giving this a look over the weekend, thanks Jamie for the links.
Bathurst is indeed a wonderful track and was always on my "bucket list" as a go to place for the Aussie Touring Cars great race. That was a series which always placed high as a favourite for me over the years but not so much these days, although I did watch some of the races last year (2018). There isn't the characters racing these days and nothing comes close to the likes of Peter Brock; Allan Grice; Alan Moffatt and Dick Johnson etc. Plus of course the cars all looked different unlike today where they all appear to have the same body shape, just like bloody NASCAR!
At least these GT cars racing this weekend all look different and resemble the road car version, except for the stupid big add on wings.

Now that is an Australian Touring Car René, and the attached film from the 1978 Great race features one of my favourites the Holden A9X in Marlboro colours and driven by the great Peter Brock and Jim Richards. In the film you get a brief view of the second place car of Alan Grice in his similar Holden. Great days and great cars and drivers,

This is the one Australian V-8 Supercar race I want never to miss.
The 1978 event, as it normally does, featured many world-class drivers. Jack Brabham and Brian Muir were 6th in another Holden. Derek Bell, Dieter Quester Jacky Ickx, Henri Pescarolo, John Fitzpatrick, Vern Schuppan and others had various levels of success surviving the wear and tear of Mount Panorama.

That was a great race! I watched the first half live and a recap this morning. Fantastic stuff and the sensation of speed is just magnificent. Unfortunately no strong Ferrari team this year but the victory for the Porsche team was well deserved albeit unexpected. Great moves at the end. And what a track!

Absolutely brilliant race. I watched the first 6 hours last night, up until 2.00am French time and then bed called finally. The racing was excellent and so close, amazing to think that it was a 12 Hour Endurance race with the elbows out racing. The Bathurst circuit really is majestic and seeing that glorious sunshine made ones mind drift away from the horrible winter blues here in Northern Europe.
I haven't seen the end yet, but very surprised to see that the Porsche's won, would have been great to see the Bentley's win as they looked superb and threatening throughout the first half.
Just makes you realise that this is what motor racing is all about.

That was fantastic, SportsCar racing at its best. A little bit industrial by the winning Porsche towards the end but just about the right side of the line. What a brilliant circuit Mount Panorama is, right up there on the list of the worlds greatest racetracks.
Two great SportsCar races in successive weekends......bit of a drought now though.

American networks were focused on cabbages and kings---and whether pigs have wings.
They do in NASCAR
I doubt the so-called sports channels were even aware. I will have to find ones who are by delving into streaming services.

Carl, I watched live via YouTube and I am currently at 19.00 hrs French time watching the last half of the race from where I left off at 2.00 hrs this morning, absolutely fantastic coverage of an enthralling and fantastic race. To b honest I had begun to think that I would never ever see a great motor car race ever again, but as Jamie says above, two in one week. Stuff F1, this is real motor racing . John Charles

John Charles, My earlier post led me to wonder. I sometimes answer my own complaints and thus located the youtube video of the entire race just before signing onto RRT and your recommendation of the same. Thank you, sir! Next time I will know where to look! Although coming in late with a fairly clear idea of the winning car, I know little for sure and will settle down and watch. Cheers, Carl

Cheers, Carl Carl, I have just finished watching the last four hours and it was superb, some of the racing was a bit ungentlemanly and somewhat rude but such are standards today. None the less a truly great race. Enjoy my friend. John Charles
