Jamie! cool -wonderful - I actually watched some of it on yutub and it was great, nice to see Teflonso having something he can race, is Sebring next? haven't see the Marshall podcats and have no idea where to find one, or casts come to that ! The Marshall Pruett podcasts are posted to his YT page so you can find them there if you fancy a listen, I’ve put a link below to the Jim Busby one I mentioned. He also does a weekly SportsCar and INDYCAR roundup podcast and I tend to listen to them when on the tube. I love my American motorsport (NASCAR is meh for me though) and this is a good way to keep abreast of the scene. Marshall is also one of the people behind the ‘Racer’ magazine I subscribe to. Carl would definitely know who he is 👍 Sebring is mid-March I think.

I don't have great interest in 24 hour endurance races, but it's cool to watch the prototypes blitz past slower classes. NBC Sports Channel has saturation coverage, but I avoided the start and tuned in when shadows were lengthening with 20 hours remaining and will watch the final hours tomorrow morning. The melodramatic Leigh Diffey failed to note several passes for the lead in LMP1, not his fault because a veteran driver was being interviewed elsewhere while the producers focused only on his Turner Motorsport #96 BMW M6 GT3, I decided by arrangement with his main sponsor, German oil and additive company, Liqui Moly, momentarily spoiling the race for the television audience but lubricating the gears of commerce. As always, there are some top teams and excellent drivers, all well worth having a look. www.motorsport.com/imsa/news/rolex-daytona-mazda-acura-drama/4676781/?nrt=207

I have watched a small amount; firstly during the opening hour and then some early this morning in darkness. Just can't seem to get into it this year but great coverage as René mentions on IMSA.tv and with the excellent British radio commentary. Might tune in to see the closing stages although the Cadillac's were running 1;2;3 when i last looked in, a bit dominant there.

An hour to go and it's looking good for the no.10 Cadillac. Great comeback after the penalty! Some good racing in Florida, also in the lower classes!

There was a pretty decent crowd for an endurance race and I really enjoy the overhead shots courtesy of the camera crew on board either a helicopter or blimp. Attendance was good with the best seats in the infield on the roof of a recreational vehicle well stocked with bratwurst, buns, beer and buxom babes.

I managed to view most of the last 90 minutes in the end and it was pretty good. Goodness that Wayne Taylor DR Cadillac was well hooked up all race, and what a driver line up in the cockpit. I do however find it hard that today it is accepted teams have four drivers, so long ago when two were the norm in 24 Hour races. Very impressed with Mr Kobayashi these days who seems to have marked out a strong career in sports cars after being discarded way too early from F1. Interesting to see Scott Dixon in the team now that the factory Ford GTP team has been disbanded and Chip Ganassi no longer runs DP cars. As Carl observes the crowd looked good too, along with the camper van entourage on the infield and all that brings . Really appreciated the British "radio" commentary over the IMSA feed on their site which to all intent was the Radio Le Mans crew who are not only very knowledgable but easy on the ear, great stuff guys.

I too managed to watch some of this, great wasn't it, the thing for me is: this is it, this is the start of the season, along with the Monte Carlo rally, this means the funny season is drawing to a close and the sharp-end is approaching, it also means that the bike is fired up and the golf clubs are dusted down, I think in that order-
The Daytona looked good and as impressive a circuit I would dearly like to visit, there is a scary clip on utub in the late 50's when Indycar raced there, man that was scary, really scary so much so they stopped racing there,
Mr Kobayashi - would he fit into the fizzy drinks mentality?

Indeed the start of the racing season! It is good to see Kamui Kobayashi having a good career in sportscars now. I always liked and rated him. Also my countryman Renger van der Zande managed to restart his career in American sportcar racing and he's now one of the top racers in IMSA.

I am really pleased to see Kamui doing so well in sports car racing both as a Toyota factory driver in LMP1 and his drives in IMSA as at Daytona, he looks such a quality driver these days in those categories. Of course his fellow countryman and Toyota driver Kas Nakagima is also no slouch and equally potent these days.
Certainly in past times Honda would have had one of these excellent drivers in one of its F1 powered cars but no chance now as they are far better off with Toyota doing what they do now.
All of the guys in the Wayne Taylor Cadillac put in some outstanding stints, none more so than young van der Zante who impressed many with his speed and commitment. Holland certainly has some real talent around these days.
The news over the weekend that LM and IMSA thanks to Penske are going to align themselves with the new regulations is a major plus for both series, the future could be very bright.
