Was doing a little hunting around on YT at the weekend and stumbled on this footage of the 1972 Le Man race. Lots of footage of Cevert and plenty of screaming Matra V12’s........heaven.
Wonderfully atmospheric, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Brilliant Jamie,
One of, if not, the greatest engine notes of all time. Those Matra sports prototypes were just amazing race cars, none more so than when Francois Cevert was at the helm in 1973.
René will confirm this but for model fans the excellent slot car company Slot-It have just released the Cevert/Beltoise long tail Le Mans Matra of 1973, looks pretty stunning to me and might need to get one for the shelf!!
I love Matra's; brilliantly engineered race cars that always had real soul.

Thanks for sharing Jamie, that is fantastic! Sportscars of that era are just so beautiful, can't get enough of them. JC, the new Slot-it Matra looks superb. I have not purchased it yet but I am afraid I will! Another manufacturer, SRC, also made this car which I do have. Also quite good. They made the Jabouille/Jassaud car.

Glad you enjoyed that gentlemen; Matras are a bit special and the engine note is as good as it gets....sends shivers down the spine! In my opinion, the only engine note to come close is the V12 in the Ferrari 333SP.
Another interesting video below - a tour around a French engine builders shop where he has some Matra engines on the go. I want a copy of the CD the chap pops on 😀

I eagerly anticipated any race in which there would be a V12 Matra, in my case always Formula One (1971 Questor Grand Prix and later Long Beach). The scene at the 1:50 point where the advertisement banners at night are illuminated sequentially by the approaching car and then into darkness as it passes is great cinematography.

I too love the sound of the V12 Matra and there is a wonderful clip of Henri driving it on You-tub, have you also listened to the V16 and H16's engines, I managed to capture on my phone the H16 [the Lotus 43] being fired up at Oulton Park last year and really would love that as my ring-tone, but sadly i am informed that isn't possible, shame, can you imagine having that sound?
