Around 1990 there was a good deal of talk and writings on that turboprop planes were the future. But it seems it didn't catch on to the degree anticipated at that time. And of course, the engines are still turbine engines. The Lockheed Constellation and Super Constellation had four radial engines (star engines). That was really something!

I came across this (reprint) poster today, at a second-hand bookstore, and couldn't resist it. It's an advertisement, for a Danish cola-brand, from around 1960 - at the heyday of the "Roskilde Ring" track, at the time where they could attract the best part of the Formula One field for their non-championship "Grand Prix's".
Interesting that the life of a fictitious Grand Prix driver was used then, as the dream-image for young men.
(This cola-brand appeared in Denmark in 1959 and it's actually still in existence; and still going "reasonably strong".)

Love it Mikael! I can understand you couldn't resist. Frame it nicely and hang it on your wall, cool.

Great poster Mikael with superb period graphics. If that were on the MS site they would be asking £500.00 for it without question.
As René mentions, frame it and hang it on the wall.

A great photo, I thought ...
A quiz: on what circuit is the photo taken? (Is it Imola?) (The original, signed poster is for sale at the MSM homepage.)
Interesting that Japan had two GPs that year: Aida and Suzuka. (The same for Italy: Imola and Monza.)

it is a lovely poster, not sure where but had hints of pre-season testing around it, not sure why I feel that

I think it was Imola but somebody has blanked out the Rothmans logos.

That is a great looking poster Mikael. I have had a good look at that picture and have a feeling that it might be Estoril. The pit entry on the left as you look at the picture isn't anything like Imola. I also seem to remember that Williams did a lot of testing in that period at Estoril, with a movie made of Ayrton & Damon driving around. Just to give you something to contemplate I have attached two pictures of the respective circuits aerial views, first Imola and then Estoril.

P>S> to the above. here is a simply stunning shot of Ayrton testing the Williams Renault at Estoril, probably at same time.

You beat me to it, JC. 100% Estoril as I remember this photo from a magazine I have (somewhere in a box). I think it was a center poster in the mag but of course not signed! Yes, Estoril it is.

Sorry about that René, it's all in the timing . Incidentally they also tested pre-season at Paul Ricard that year, there was a good little film done by a spectator to those tests on YouTube a while ago, great sound of the Renault V10 at full blast.
