Ouch! But it's obvious where all the orange fans were today! It looked very like the Dutch Grand Prix had moved to Austria; but then we will have the second Dutch GP at Spa . I wonder how many will be at Silverstone next weekend? It's an amazing phenomenan. There were Max Verstappen grandstands but also an actual Max Verstappen Village with all kinds of Max themed entertainment and a big tent/concert hall with dj's! To be honest, this is not entirely my cup of tea. I know 95% of those fans never visited a motor race before 2016 and had Holland qualified for the Worldcup, half of them would be in Russia right now. Celebrating Dutch success on a world stage is what triggers most of them. But I don't want to be too cynical. Max is the first Dutch race winner in Formula 1 ever so it's a completely new experience that makes people feel enthusiastic and proud. I remember the same effect Schumacher had in Germany in the early 90's. Spa was completely flooded with Germans.

If only he were a thoroughly nice chap like Jan Lammers.
Anyways, Assen is a magnificent place, a true temple.

well a weeked where my least two favourite drivers/riders both drove clever and well thought out races, the link? the Netherlands, home of one of the best ever motorbike circuits and a historical circuit that is sadly missed,
as much as I want to take it away from Marquez, I simply can't - he drove an excellent race, at the end, but some of the moves where so exhilarating my neighbours must have wondered what on earth i was making so much noise about, great to see the Mav is back, and if by having a competitive team-mate comprimises one, wonder how Honda will do next year? fisticuffs or handbags?
but probably the most exciting race for some time, I am disapointed that Rossi or Mav didn't get past Dovi earlier and carried on the fight with Marquez, but great race and well done Rins,
JC, I cannot bear BT's KH - his accent grinds and he seems to want to prove he is better than anyone else, but in saying that MotoGP commentary this year has really paled, the sychophantic adulation of all things Marquez is nauseating and vomit inducing, according to the commentators no-one else should bother turning up for the next race, well hopefully they will be proved wrong,
Scott is quick, and it is good to know my suspicions have been justified, it would be interesting to see him of Aleix's bike once, just to see the difefrence, if Aprilla had any sense they would sign him up for the WSB and a MOTOGP test rider - i do think he could adjust to both and be successful and that would be great
the saddest sight was dani, that is just not good

Next year will be exciting at Honda, Chris! Jorge will be no Danny and i have a feeling he will give Marquez more than a few things to think about once he has sorted the bike to his liking. What Lorenzo has done at Ducati is quite remarkable in my opinion, and he has just shown Ducati up by having no faith in the guy, there loss and good job!!
The commentary from all providers in MotoGP is dire to be honest, the last really good and knowledgeable one was Chris Carter who had his own style which had appeal. I did quite like Toby Moody and Julian Ryder who were a good team; the latter did not pair well with Heuwen which wasn't his fault. Heuwen falls into the same category of a presenter that Carl mentioned in the States where they just cannot shut up, for goodness sake we can see for ourselves what is going on, and more to the point we can see what is happening down the field which Heuwen seems to have a blind spot for. I like Neil Hodgson, but even he is becoming a pain as the co-commentator these past few races.
This constant adulation for Marquez is vomit inducing, yes the guy can ride and produces some spectacular saves, but i do not like rodeo style riders, much preferring the classic stylists. However one day Marquez will push it too far and he will end up hurting himself, particularly if he sustains a long career as cat like reflexes will dim as he ages. History does not lie when we see riders like him; he ain't no Mike Hailwood!!
