The Dutch TT at Assen is a true classic and a track where drivers love to come. The undisputed master of this track is Valentino Rossi but can he do his magic again this year? Or will Lorenzo continue his winning streak? This is going to be a cracker for sure!

totally agree Rene, still one of the best tracks going, I've gone for Rossi as he really goes much better at these older style circuits and wouldn't it throw everything into the mixer,
I went to Assen a few years ago for a WSB race, what a wonderul time place and venue,

A magnificent circuit, one of the greatest remaining on the calendar, thank goodness the idea of a F1 race there has gone quiet for that would end up ruining the place.
I have voted for Johann Zarco as I would dearly love him to win but feel it is unlikely as his spark has dimmed following the disappointment of Le Mans. Or is it that Yamaha are playing games! Alternatively I would like to see Lorenzo's winning streak continue as that would be a poke in the eye to Ducati and all who doubted the guy.

there is always a certain tingle of excitement when we get to Assen, although I am reading with some concern that F1 are considering racing there? I would be over the moon to see the Dutch GP F1 return aka France, but not at Assen please, rebuild the magnificent Zandvoort - now that would be special

But to be honest, I am not so sure about Zandvoort either. Of course Zandvoort would be the natural home of F1 in the Netherlands, no question. But I am afraid when Herr Tilke waves his dark black magic over the circuit, the old school look and feel which it still has will be lost forever. But with Max mania on a high, there is a lot of support from businesses and authorities to have a Dutch Grand Prix again which is great of course. PS No idea why Tilke is still there, he was an Ecclestone appointment. They should dump him.

An amazing MotoGP qualifying session this afternoon, if I am correct there was a mere 3/10ths second between the top 9 riders; and the fact that pole changed umpteen times in the dying seconds was incredible.
Wonderful weather at the Citadel Of Speed mirroring what we are all experiencing in Northern Europe right now, however there was a strong wind similar to that of which we have experienced in Normandy these past three days, today it has dropped and it was 39 degrees C in font of our house.
Interested to hear from the BT Sport team that Scott's Aprilia is never to the same spec as A. Espargaro's, the team have not got the funds to supply more than one bike with all the "goodies"; and people wonder why the lad isn't performing. However he did ride very well today, shame he wasn't on a year old Ducati!
It's going to be a cracking race tomorrow.

By the look of it, I shouldn't have had.

The race did not disappoint, absolutely electrifying and just what racing should be. I viewed via BT Sport which can be ultimately hugely frustrating, especially for me as I really cannot be doing with Keith Heuwen's commentary. His voice grates, but more annoying is his obvious bias towards certain UK riders. O.K. we all know here that i am related to Scott Redding but the dismissive nature when Heuwen read through the results at race end that Scott finished 14th was disgusting. I say that for one reason; throughout the race Scott put in the best performance of his season and crossed the finish line side by side with his more favoured team mate. A meritorious ride that warranted more, and if it had been one of Heuwen's favourites he would have been volcanic in his praise!
So Scott has been dropped for Iannone in 2019; however they wish to retain him as a test rider Ha! Maybe they already realise that when Iannone finds out the true "qualities" of the bike and the toys come out of the pram, they will need Scott to pick up the pieces.
Great race none the less, but a shame some team-mates messed the race up for one another, allowing Marquez an easier last few laps, Excellent to see Rins on the Suzuki finish second, a beautiful ride and long overdue.

Yes I enjoyed the race too. How many changes for the lead did we see? Marquez rode a clever race, indeed taking advantage of inter team battles but you still have to do it. Great atmosphere at Assen as always!

Great atmosphere at Assen as always! A wonderful place René, and a great day for the Dutch; just a shame they are not in the World Cup . I agree that Marquez rode well and probably would have won, but have the feeling that Dovi actually destroyed Lorenzo's race with their little dust up mid race. Also I think that Rossi did much the same to Maverick, but that is racing as they say.

A great day for the Dutch; just a shame they are not in the World Cup . Ouch! But it's obvious where all the orange fans were today!

It looked very like the Dutch Grand Prix had moved to Austria; but then we will have the second Dutch GP at Spa . I wonder how many will be at Silverstone next weekend?
