I did watch Steve's Le Mans film the other day and I loved those cars, the noise, the colour and the sheer enormity of it all, amazing
I do think the WEC in 2022 will be fantastic, I think there will be a few ex F1 racers there, some of whom still deserve F1 seats. Given his ability to protect his cars I do think Checo will make a really good long distance driver,

When watching something like this, I always come to think along the lines: What an amazing development that took place during the half-century that followed that time (1924). Fifty years on, in the early 1970's, the cars had (almost) converged to their present form. During the half-century that has followed yet again, the cars have, of course, become much more advanced; but on the surface (and to the casual observer), not quite so much has happened, relatively ...
Le Mans 24H, 1924
Half a century later (1973).
And (almost) half a century later yet again (2020)

This must be the biggest motorsport news of this year so far:
Ferrari will return to the Sportscar World championship and the Le Mans 24 hours as a factory team for the first time since 1973!
To compete at the highest sportscar level, Ferrari will design and develop their own Le Mans Hypercar according to the new 2023 regulations. The driver line up will be decided at a later stage.
Wow, this is really great news! Really looking forward to that and who knows, maybe they will enter the F1 drivers for Le Mans if that matches with the calendars. Oh yes, and I can see the Ferrari hypercar at the Spa 6 hours or may even go to Le Mans...

That is great news! At Spa, the Scuderia will have perhaps its greatest fan to cheer on its hypercars! Forza Ferrari! Cheers, Carl

Even I am pleased to hear that news! although it would be neat if Jaguar also announce a return, just like the 50's Rene...but seriously that is great news, and hopefully no BCE to mess it up this time, this could be the start of a classic period, hope runs high

I have waited nearly 50 years for this news. Endurance racing, though at times brilliant, has never been the same for me without Ferrari. SSomething to look forward to for sure.

You don't have to be a Ferrari fan to see the significance of this news for the sport. And yeah, Jaguar too would be cool.

I've always thought it was a shame I missed out on the era when Ferrari was still competing at Le Mans (as a works team). This is certainly something to look forward to and I know I will experience endurance racing in a very different way when Ferrari is back competing for overall victory. And the championship will get a lot more attention for sure. Wonderful.

Rene there were two things I read as a 12/13 year old that got me hooked on motor racing and F1 and sports cars in particular. The first was an article about Jim Clark in a boys annual and featured a colour pic of him drifting the Lotus25/33 at Silverstone so it may have been 1963 or 1965. He was racing under number 4. The second was in the Readers Digest and was the condensed version of Anthony Pritchard's excellent Ford vs Ferrari. Since then I have always supported Ferrari at Le Mans.

This news about Ferrari returning as a factory team to endurance racing is excellent. This could really be a challenge to F1 when one sees who is entering this new era, and Ferrari adds a new credibility. So far it looks like there will be Toyota; Peugeot; Audi; Porsche and now Ferrari, goodness me that really puts F1 into some kind of perspective.
This could well make a visit to Le Mans impossible to resist.

Yep 2023 could be a good time to visit Le Mans. Maybe life will be normal again. I shall pencil it in.

2023 is sounding a rather good plan, maybe a RRT get together?

That could be interesting.
Could also be an exceptional experience and might even rival the days of Group C at Le Mans.

A photo appearing on a (very recent) MSM online article about Ferrari's history at Le Mans: Olivier Gendebien en route to victory at the 1961 Le Mans.
Wow! What an ... unbelievably beautiful car! This one (the 250TRI/61) might even beat the 1967 330P4 in terms of sheer beauty ... The dark, scarlet red is also seductive - just perfect. (The quality of the photo also has an effect, I guess, but still ... "poetry in motion"!)

Indeed Mikael, a classic beauty. The race also brought to the attention of the motor sport world two little Mexican brothers who drove a similar car for the North American Racing Team (NART).
Seen here in this superb film with the legendary commentator Raymond Baxter.
