Not an exciting MotoGP race, but as I expected it to be. It isn't a great venue for bike racing, just listen to many ex racers who cannot abide the place, far to car (F1) orientated, and the surface is pretty appalling.
Yes Marquez rode well but it is, and always has been, a Honda track. The way Marquez blew by the inspired Iannone's Suzuki on the straight on lap one just showed the lack of top end power of the GSXRR, great chassis however.
Great damage limitation by Dovi on a track the Ducati lacks so much; too many left right sequences that do not suit the big red machine which still has turning issues. Hats off to little Dani, that was a very brave ride indeed.
It has just been announced that Johann Zarco has signed for the KTM works team; both are going far mark my words. A very well reasoned approach of Johann not to go to Honda.

this is something that frustrates me, Marquez drove a brilliant race as he can and just wish he would more often, I didn't like what he did in practice but i dislike more his subsequent attitude, basically trying to blame Iannone -who was another who really impressed in the race, as did Maverick, who is my favourite rider in that class, good to see Smithy get a good start but sadly fade, wonder where he is going next year? but Scott was a disappointment
some other good rides but for me the rider of the day, was, as you say John, hats off to Dani - that was so impressive,
Moto2 was a good race but for Sam -arghhh seems like some of the Brits had a bit of a rush of blood, Sam, Danny, Cal and wee John McPhee faded to nothing
but the exciting races were at the cathedral - Assen - I tell you at some stages i had to look away- it was that nail-biting! well done to Johnny and to Tom, good stuff

Well said, Rene. The Alabama event was like waiting half the day at a train station. There may be a design element of the new cars that sends out more spray and heavy rain and water pooling at low elevations made triple jeopardy. -Carl Well, they very much made up for it in the second part! Just watched the live report of the race at Barber and I very much enjoyed that! What a great race track. Beautiful scenery with natural elevation changes and a lot of grass instead of endless tarmac. What a joy! The racing was great and a well deserved victory for Josef. Wow that guy us good, I really like him. Some great overtakes also in the race, descent slipstreaming and good moves. Yeah, really enjoyed this one. It was a very exciting race. Josef Newgarden is amazing, the best Penske driver since Emerson Fittipaldi. When the track was being designed, serious input was given by John Surtees and Dan Gurney. Hermann Tilke wasn't asked. I enjoyed all the passing! Robert Wickens was very impressive and the battle through the final turns between Sebastien Bourdais and Scott Dixon was two masters at 9/10ths and fantastic to watch. For motorcycle enthusiasts, Barber Motorsports Park includes a museum housing the world's largest collection of motorcycles. And an abundance of racing cars. It's a destination track.

From today’s Gazzetta, 2019 rider’s market:
Honda Hrc thought to replace Dani Pedrosa with Zarco, but the sponsor Repsol has been instrumental and they will likely keep him for another year before make place to new talent Joan Mir. Pol Espargaro will continue to partner Zarco.
Suzuki, while Iannone has to impress to retain the seat, they are looking at what is happening between Lorenzo and Ducati. The feeling is that Ducati will not confirm Lorenzo, probably taking Danilo Petrucci in his place, although they like Jack Miller too. Before all that, Ducati has yet to agree terms with Dovizioso: the asking price is 6 million euros, Ducati offer 4. The expectation is they will have to find an agreement because “a Ducati of the future without Dovi would be difficult to explain”.
