The attached scans are from an early edition of the quarterly magazine I and a friend published for close on 16 years from 1978 - 1994. In those days it was pretty much rudimentary, my mother used to type the text for me and it was printed from that. Goodness me how different things would be if i were doing it now. It did become more "professional" as the years passed with better equipment and a more advanced printing company doing the production.
Believe me a lot of hours went into its production, sweat and blood no doubt.
The Ferrari T4 drawings are my own work, all done with an Indian Ink mapping pen and a few outer bits of draughting equipment. The white metal 1/43rd kits were beginning to improve at that time but by todays standards were almost crude, but with a modicum of skill one could produce a pleasing result. Over the years we gained a lot of support from the likes of Jeff Bloxham (Autosport Photographer); the late Russell Bulgin (Editor Autocar); and Peter Windsor, all top blokes in every way.

Fantastic JC.
You don't have to convince me a lot of hours went into producing something like this. As a graphic designer I know all too well how labour intensive this can be. And the result looks very good indeed.
I am particularly impressed with the blueprint drawings you made of the Ferrari. Did you have the exact dimensions of the car at hand and then calculated those to scale? The drawing looks really sharp and well proportioned. And do you still have this particular model?

I still have the model René, but it is one of the many hundreds that are still boxed away at present.
The dimensions were to hand along with things like max width of bodywork stipulated by FIA etc; and so using many photos I drew out the car larger than printed in the magazine and then photocopied it down to a more suitable size.
Pleased you liked it which i hoped you would being a Ferrari and Gilles fan .
I will scan some more articles that were in later and more "professional" copies of the magazine.

I am an easy bribe when you use a Gilles/Ferrari image! But seriously, I really like it so looking forward to a few more of these!

The magazine looks superb Charles-how I wished we had got copies out here. As Rene said your drawing of the T4 is excellent. I look forward to seeing some of your 1/43rds on this forum.
