the 250 has to be one of the most gorgeous cars that has ever been, it really is beautiful, but between the E-Type and the Ferrari, I am sorry but the E Type would be my choise From an economic point of view, it is better to opt for the 250 GTO. With that you buy 20 E-types and a nice house when you sell it again.

"I'd rather have two girls at 21 each than one girl at 42..."
- W.C. Fields The only rational decision is not to choose between two supremely beautiful cars. The XK-E shape is more seductive while the 250 GTO is more purposeful, the Jaguar Grace Kelly, the Ferrari Sophia Loren, and I want them both.

All I can say is that W.C.Fields must have been an idiot , personally I would take one 42 year old lady over two 21 year olds any day of the week, and for many different reasons .

JC,
it looks amazing! - and the original, racing-style "knock-off" central wheel nuts are fantastic!
I do hope you will have the car relocated and on the road very soon - perhaps already in time to enjoy the summer of '22 in it!
Best
Mikael
Thank you Mikael. The original "Knock Off" hubs were/are in good shape so remain truly genuine. The wheels are also original and very hard to source today, I believe they were manufactured by Dunlop back in the 1960's. A lot of Lotus Elan owners today have fitted alloy Minilite style wheels and these are not at all correct for the car. The other thing is the fact that the wheels and tyres are so thin in comparison with what we have today, in the Uk they are referred to being 4 1/2 J which is an imperial measurement of four and half inches in width. William Claude Dukenfield was a master of the offensive remark. His long relationship with actress Carlotta Monti lasted until his death when she was nearly 40, so I suppose he may have timed his departure , but I agree that women younger than 40 are often incomplete and less interesting.

and ironically W C passed away on his most disliked day of the year, Christmas day... One story had a friend visiting the hospital where Fields had been in a long decline, and saw him with a Bible. Asked what he hoped to gain, Fields said he was looking for loopholes.

This must be at the Nürburgring 1967; or could it be Spa? In whatever way, I think it's an outstandingly beautiful photo.

Mikael, It is a very beautiful photo and must be at Spa, where Jim Clark's #21 Lotus led Jackie Stewart's BRM and eventual winner Dan Gurney in the early laps.

Yes, Spa 1967 and the shot is taken at the original Les Combes corner, and what a brilliant back ground. Below is a shot from the other direction taken in 1964 with Jim leading Graham Hill.

Could not resist looking for the Motor Sport front page that JC mentioned. A great photo of Jim Clark indeed, showing him "on the limit" and with a bit of contra-steering. Looking at the photo for some time, one can almost hear the sound of the Cosworth DFV at full throttle.

Thanks for posting it Mikael. I always preferred the Lotus 49 in these colours and with the drivers names in white on a red background. Just seemed so right.

thanks Mikael, for me perfection personified in one easy photograph,
some nice tributes on Twitter, especially from Matt Bishop and Maurice Hamilton who pay their respect to 'the greatest' and who am I to disagree with their sentiments?
looking forward when the weather improves to my annual trip to Duns to pay my respects
