Riverside 1965 This is such a great photograph with such a difference in car styling of the different marques. As we have commented before the Lotus 40 and earlier 30 are so low in side view. Such a shame they were not more successful, but they do look fantastic. Jim alongside his team mate on this occasion Richie Ginther. The row in front featuring Bob Bondurant in the Pacesetter Lola T70; Hap Sharp in the winning Chaparral 2 (with "flipper" rear spoiler/wing) and Graham Hill in the John Coombes light grey Mclaren M1A. In mentioning John Coombes, I noticed in the post of Lucio's showing Jim advertising the Lotus Elan that one of the dealers listed at the very bottom were Coombes & Son of Guildford.

i visited Chirnside yesterday morning, it was very poignant and I 'only' had to turn away twice from talking to others who did the same, one a hardened old steward also breaking down and we both wondered why this quiet unassuming farmer turned motor racer could still evoke such emotion 50 years after his tragic accident.
the big event was on the 7th and many had turned up for that - I had decided to pay my respects early Sunday morning and saw Clive Chapman with the Cortina, 43, 25 and 32b in situ, there was a lovely little exhibition in the community hall, and I have photo's a plenty, still, sorry Jamie, but cannot understand how to load them onto our site, there was an array of road going Loti including what looked like a Lotus 11, people were friendly and engaging. In the hall were some fantastic models and the local schools had done a project on Jimmy which I thought was a fantastic touch.
Visiting the modest grave, which isn't either very tall nor in any way ostentatious set in the beautiful church grounds - tucked away to the NE of the graveyard was the other time my composure and I departed each other and i only found the grave by following the trampled grass.
It was a nice gesture I felt that the events were at Chirnside not Duns although I did pop into Duns afterwards to the trophy room and a wonderful photo of Senna signing the visitors book.
A very emotional and very respectful day, rest-in-peace Jimmy
