The various Alfa-Romeo wheels with circles and ovals in different sizes and patterns around the perimeter are both simple and beautiful. Yes, Italian automotive design is - and has always been - outstanding. Always original and extraodinary. This is true also for (or especially true for) Italian motorcycles.

Here’s one from Monza, also 1975. Interesting to see in your photo Jamie are two cars just behind the Alfa. Just visible is the Gelo Team Mirage Ford of Jochen Mass & Tim Schenken and a bit further back is the white Jolly Club entered Lola T282 Ford of Vittorio Brambilla with the unmistakable dark orange helmet. The Gelo Team were I believe the George Loos German set up who successfully ran Porsche 935's amongst other things. The Mirage's were purchased from the Gulf JW team. The Alfa Romeo T33/3's were all fabulous cars, and very spectacular in "Bat Mobile" form as so beautifully photographed by René at the Stavelot Museum. They really performed well once run by the German Willi Kausen team although it has to be said that the competition was not too strong after Matra withdrew at the end of 1974.

German Georg Loos was a self made man who made his initial fortune in real estate. Commercially a very clever man. Spent all his money on racing, tropical fish and dogs! The Gelo Team was indeed the team he set up in 1968 and raced mainly Porsches but also Ferraris in 1970 and 1971 and as you mentioned the Mirage in 1975. Loos was driver and team manager. Colour scheme was mostly red and yellow (or gold). In 1970 he raced this private Ferrari 512S at the Monza 1000km race and at Le Mans. He also raced the magnificent Porsche 917/10 in the Interseries. This is Rolf Stommelen behind the wheel.

Back to Alfa Romeo. Going through my photo archives I found these, the gorgeous little Alfa T33/3 of Toine Hezemans here pictured at 'Italia a Zandvoort' in 2005. Cuore Sportivo!
