It's been almost as quiet here as a Formula E race!!
We need some attractive women members to stir controversy among the alpha males* at the table. >
*all of us
-name withheld to protect the devious
Very quiet at the moment Carl. I believe that Chris is currently on a motorcycle tour in Germany so that accounts for him. Maybe there is not that of much interest going on right now, but some attractive female members certainly might stir the pot!! . John Charles,
With the others all exhausted, the attractive women will flock to you and me with even more alacrity than they otherwise normally would.
Cheers, Carl

Entirely understandable and good to hear from you. How long will you be there and how's the weather?
Cheers, Carl

Thank you Carl.
Here is hot and very, very humid, after 50m walk the shirt is all wet, not enjoyable, and it rains every afternoon. Not much sun either, I miss the beautiful Italian (Mediterranean) sky, surely without equal (well, I have never seen the Missouri or Montana ones, would love to).
The plan is to stay here until the end of November, six months. Good accommodation, serviced large apartment on the 17th floor, private gym and swimming pool. Been at a party yesterday night offered by the company, to celebrate the end of fasting for the day (Ramadan) with lots of good food, I was struck by a "Tahitian crème brule'", that was an absolute novelty to me. Tonight I declined "urban Korean cuisine", too much pretence to be any good, I assumed. Otherwise, office in the heart of the city, at Chinatown - dirt and bad smelling. Surely it's not Singapore, but will start to get more around over the weekend.
Cheers, Lucio

Lucio,
I do not envy you with the humidity, the beautiful blue skies of Italy must be very much on your mind. I have to say the weather here in Northern France, and I understand the UK, has been extremely weird for well over a week now, as it is almost tropical. Hot sunshine during the majority of the day followed by huge thunderstorms with torrential rain, usually from late afternoon and through the evenings.
Hope you enjoy your time in the Far East, and keep in touch with us all here on RRT.

We have mud streams and heavy thunder, sometimes really frightening.

Across the globe, there is heavy rain where rain isn't needed and drought where it is.
We are told by the colossal pompadour that climate change is a hoax and to ignore what we only imagine we see. "Who are you gonna believe, me or your own eyes?" - "Chico" Marx (disguised as Groucho in "Duck Soup")

Fortunately we were not hit directly (yet) by the bad weather but only a few kilometres away people were hit quite badly.

I can well understand the stresses etc. With any luck the awful weather will keep away, surely this very unusual set of conditions will end soon and normality will return. Good luck in all that you are doing.

That is also why I won't try Korean food - besides the small ...erm... detail they eat dogs - it might support his newly found pal, Kim Jong-whats-his-name. Curious how the most unsavoury characters eventually find themselves and go hand in hand.

Thank you all - JC, Carl, Rene, Chris, Rob - for the good wishes. Hope all is good with you too.
About the sky, I have been thinking that what spoils it at these latitudes, as when I was in the Middle East, is the haze, the light isn't crystal clear as it is at more temperate latitudes - the Mediterranean, South Africa/Namibia, Southern Australia/New Zealand, Patagonia, the American Midwest. In the UK we obviously have that dull, grey sky most of the year, but then we have those (alas, too) few summer days that are absolutely glorious with all the green around in full splendour.
