Congratulations to Max Verstappen on his fourth world title! Equal to Prost and Vettel now.
Yes, Congratulations to Max Verstappen! A very well-deserved World Championship.
Just a little trivial detail which caught my eye: the neat sign-board (shown in the above photo, posted by René). Interesting to see that such signs are made; even if they may be wrong and redundant at the end of the race.
When I was active in motocross (on, clearly, a humble level) I followed - dreamily - the World Championships as closely as it was possible at that time (around 1980), via magazines. The American rider Brad Lackey was very close to clinching the 500cc World Championship for several years; and in 1980 he was closer than ever. However, once again he was haunted by bad luck (hence his nickname "Bad Luckey"). I remember that an American motocross magazine I faithfully bought each month (Motocross Action Magazine) showed with a photo, in their report of the last GP of 1980, how Kawasaki had prepared a big stack of t-shirts, saying: "Brad Lackey - World Champion 1980". Obviously, not a single one was ever used. (And one can wonder if they became a "collector's item" hit, or if they were destined to be teared apart and just used for oil-cloths ...)
Brad Lackey, on Kawasaki, in 1980.
Brad Lackey finally made it in 1982! (with Suzuki).
