Chris in the days that F1 was free to air in most countries and F1 was only broadcast by Sky and other pay per view channels the viewership was in the hundreds of millions. From what I gather the peak was 600 million in 2008. in 2014 the TV viewership was 83 million, with a peak of 91.5 million in 2019. the viewership has since dropped to around 70 million.

The following drivers won world championships driving Adrian Newey designed cars: Mansell 1 Prost 1 Hill 1 Villeneuve 1 Hakkinen 2 Vettel 4 Verstappen 3 Total = 13 Drivers who won championships in cars not designed by Newey Schumacher 7 Alonso 2 Raikonnen 1 Hamilton 7 Button 1 Rosberg 1 Total = 19
That is 40% of the DWC have been gained in Newey designed cars over the last 32 years. Quite amazing really. I wonder what the driver stats would have been without Newey. Schumacher would have at least two more and so would Alonso. Hamilton would have one more and maybe Senna as well.
No denying the brilliance of Adrian Newey. Latest rumor is that Adrian is finally going to sign for the Scuderia and that Horner will be sacked before the Australian Grand Prix. But maybe this is all nonsense and everything will be fine again at the fizzy drinks team.

Rene, that sounds like a plan. there are a number of drivers who would benefit from going from F1 to WEC and enliven that series - wonder if they will Yep good idea. Hülkenberg already showed what he could do with a descent car in WEC and so did Magnussen in IMSA. They are alll good drivers but haven't made it in F1 and have been around, and even returned, for too long.

Thanks Rob, you would have thought sponsors would not be happy losing so many viewers, or maybe they are? I had a recent dialogue with Glenn Irwin a motorbike racer in BSB where he was defending a get together with the teams and sponsors and a fan had complained about the sponsors being there, I referred him back to Colin's and Ron's philosophies that sponsors are partners and they are part of the team, which Glenn agreed with and the disgruntled fan exited.
It's Tuesday and has any further rumours persist, it is a sad day in F1 that the media are so focused on the back-stabbing and allegations that the real problems of F1 are buried.
Adrian to Ferrari? personally I would rather he retired from F1 - possibly go to WEC - the problem is that the people who could compete with Adrian aren't
