It’s the Baku street circuit this weekend with its super long straight and very twisty and narrow slow part through the old city. On paper both the Ferrari and the Red Bull should be fast here but the long straight will make the Ferrari vulnerable, even if they are faster over a lap. But after losing out on two certain wins, the Scuderia must strike back here.
And how will Mercedes survive this straight with the serious porpoising still an issue on the W13? I have a hunge Bottas will do well here in the Alfa, don’t ask me why. Ricciardo now really needs a good weekend to keep his seat or at least a workable atmosphere within the team. Pato O’Ward could be on a plain any moment soon…

Third time lucky for Charles I hope. A Ferrari one-two with Valteri third would really make my day. My preferred finishing order for the top ten: Leclerc Sainz Bottas Perez Norris Russell Alonso Gasley Albon Verstappen

I call your impressive Baku staight and raise with an Elkhart Lake royal flush.
Indycar at Road America is the winning hand!

Indycar at Road America is the winning hand! Carl, playing the Road America card is indeed like a Royal Flush! I'll have to throw in Spa and Suzuka to stand a chance... and then you still have Siebken's as a Joker! As for Baku, I think it's quite a spectacular street course that usually has good races. But no Siebken's or similar in Azerbaijan of course ...

Special livery to celebrate the launch of the Alfa Romeo Tonale road car, Alfa’s first electric SUV. Very cool.

I agree. Baku is an excellent street course, and boasts a variety of outstanding restaurants, although the closest equivalent to Siebkens Tavern may involve sharing a water pipe alongside your beer. Our cup runneth over this weekend...

Looking gooood so far. Charles doesn’t only remind of Gilles but on a flying lap he is very Senna’esque. Super focussed and always on the limit but rarely over. Fernando was also flying today and so was Pierre. But of course, still early days.

Well done to Charles for a splendid job started now all he has to do is win
I do wonder if the fizzy drinks brigade have made a possible error with Perez by their previous team orders and he really has raised his game

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! What a lap from Charles! When you think it really can’t go much faster, than Charles scrapes off another few tenths. He’s becoming better and better at this, a qualifying beast.
And Checo beating Max again. It will be interesting how this will develop. Carlos was really on it but made a mistake in his last flyer. But he’s getting there. Strong run from George beating Lewis again. The porpoising on that car is awful though.
Both Alpha Tauris looking good. Old hands Vettel and Alonso making up the top 10. McLaren seems to fall further back.
Charles has to finish this tomorrow. Forza.

Gutted for you guys seemed like it was a really race but for reliability
Can’t say I feel the fizzy drinks team orders do much for the image and competition of F1
Good drive by George but can sort of appreciate how Lewis must be feeling with his very sore back

All I can say about the race is that Ferrari was beaten at the start and then by terrible bad luck which almost seems like a curse that keeps repeating. Another curse struck the broadcast booth. A major contribution of Martin Brundle has been to soothe and temper the childish tendencies of David Croft, a ponderous fool at all times. Brundle has unfortunately been absent, and his replacement only makes things worse. Paulie dee talks at warp speed and had the impressionable David Croft wound to a peak of excitability. Before quarter distance, the mute button was on except for moments of special interest and need to know. Only someone as desperately unqualified as David Croft would feel compelled to distract from a mediocre season by extolling Lewis Hamilton as the greatest of all time, presumably better than Tazio Nuvolari, better than JM Fangio, Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, and Ayrton Senna.
Now, who to denounce as worst announcer of all time?

Damn, I was so gutted, so disappointed I really had no words to say yesterday. And still don't to be honest. I will support my team and believe in them to fight back but losing out like this three times in a row is just too much to handle. Not much time to Canada so all we can do is hope for the best. There's no doubt over the speed of the car or the drivers but I do hope they stay united and focussed.
Next Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. No better place to turn this around.

Finally got to watch a recording last night. A real pity about the Ferraris, took a lot of interest out of the race. Red Bull made sure that Perez would not undercut Verstappen so that was pretty much it. The porpoising seemed more pronounced here and a lot more drivers seem to be complaining, mostly those who can't keep up with Ferrari and Red Bull.
I think Ferrari are going to run into a penalty problem pretty soon which will make it even easier for Red Bull.

Still 2/3 of the championship to go and the Ferrari is fast and Charles is magic. But we need wins now (and a couple of DNFs for RB ). Forza Ferrari!
