The press agents of celebrities as famous as Lewis Hamilton normally concoct false images for public consumption, or strive to conceal all aspects of their employer's private life. Paul Newman hated publicity because of its inherent falseness. Both extremes are fine with me because I have almost no curiosity about celebrities, but Hamilton drove one hell of a great race that held my interest throughout.

Quote/radio message of the day must be Bottas's: Race engineer: "Valtteri, only four laps to go". Valtteri: "I wish it was less!" I nominate David Croft, who engaged the others in lengthy rambling speculation about how many championships Hamilton would have if, for example, his father had started him in karts as a toddler.

it seems interesting that lewis seems to have become far more humble in the media and shall I say more relaxed post victory
and I haven't come across any comments from him proclaiming himself the greatest - which is an interesting point, his hero was Senna, whose heroes were Jimmy and Fangio, etc etc
I watched the highlights on utub, a masterful win, and one he should be rightly proud of, as it was an intelligent victory not a brute force one, respect for that, but Crofty, arghh someone needs to change his medication to a betablocker not a amphetamine based product, what drivel,
I understand Ben Edwards is calling it a day - he was so good on Eurosport but was obviously told to raise the volume on C4 which didn't work, but still so much better than Crofty,

I think Lewis is at peace with himself and knows who he is and no longer needs to put up a facade and thus he comes across as the genuine article. Just watched a very lovely interview with him on the BBC breakfast show. He came across as a really great guy. He has a mission which he is committed to and listening to him talk about it shows that it is not just some publicity stunt but something he is really sincere about. I hope he continues to race for a while still because I am fascinated by what this journey of his will bring to the world. Something really good I believe.

hear hear, maybe this is why we get so frustrated as we recognise the genuine article and can't stomach the pr baloney- i'm not convinced neither he, Tonto or MB are looking at F1 as their future, maybe Tonto at the FIA but Lewis I feel has found something that will unite all his inner needs and is more of a challenge post racing
