The MB dominance continues and they looked more secure this past weekend than the one previously.
Ferrari are looking more and more like in their disaster years, the "engine issue" really does appear to be very apparent with all Maranello powered cars struggling as compared with last year in peak season. Charles held up his hand, as he always does, and admitted his obvious catastrophic error. I have a distinct feeling that the lad is very frustrated right now, the team let him down badly last year and now he sees nothing but rocks.
Interestingly Brundle was asked before the race if he thought that Carlos Sainz Jnr had made the wrong decision in joining Ferrari, especially seeing as to how McLaren were making great strides. He replied that the decision was right as it was Ferrari and would give a big pay cheque, not sure that came out quite right Martin.
Great team driving by the McLaren boys as well, just goes to show that having a very harmonious pairing, although ultra competitive with one another, really works to the team advantage. When Carlos had tyre issues in the second half of the race he let Lando through, brilliant team work. Another stunning drive by young Lando again, and both cars in the points once more.
Good to see Esteban Ocon getting ito the groove and proving to be as resilient to Ricciardo as he was with Perez when at the "pink team". I am no big fan of Teflonso but one has the feeling that he will pull Renault up by the boot straps next year, his demands will have to be met and there will be many.
I like Alexander Albon and think he is a good little driver but he is way too far off Max, I think he has been brought on too soon. The Fizzy Drink team should maybe reconsider putting Sebastian Vettel in that car and moving Alexander back to Faenza along with Gasly.
Interesting to read that Renault have protested the pink MB's brake ducts and that MB have to provide a sample of their 2019 cars ducts for comparison, someone obviously smells a king sized rodent somewhere.

Formula One needs a competitive Ferrari presence, and so does Rene! You bet, Carl!

Yep, I agree. I like him too and want him to do well but he is too far off Max, at least until now. They will give him a bit more time but he needs to get closer. Not easy of course and it would be interesting to see Sebastian as Max's teammate. That would be a lot closer from the word go but Horner and co. don't seem to be interested in this experiment which I can also understand. They have put all their cards on Max, like Ferrari have on Charles. And now Sebastian has fallen between two stools...

It was interesting to see during the Saturday qualification transmission Sebastian in quite deep conversation with Tonto Woolf outside the motorhomes. Also Tonto has said that he would like to manage Sebastian and help him get a drive, for what that may be worth! Franz Tost has also weighed in with the fact that there is still room for changes by the end of 2020 and that a place for a four time champion could also be found. Sebastian has also said he is not considering retirement especially after the rumours that were going around at the weekend. He may well end up in a better place than if he had been retained by Maranello in light of how they have plunged to new depths.

Someone somewhere suggested that Seb may well be in a Merc next year, maybe not as far fetched as it first sounded

It was more or less confirmed today that Bottas will stay for another year and Hamilton will stay anyway. Seb will either go to the pink team or take a year sabatical. PS Bottas must have the record by now of having the most consecutive one year contract extensions!

I watched the highlights on utub, Croft's excitement is just dreadful, i don't know how many times he needs to change his pants but a bit of decorum at least wouldn't go amiss. I am actually struggling to distinguish his words now, but C4's presentation with the lead 'bloke' just feels immature and old Top Gear'sh. only when you get a professional - like Lee [funny that] do we get some sensible stuff, and it is worth listening to, but I am struggling to get past the 'bloke' The Ferrari unhinging wasn't good to see, I hope they do get themselves sorted out for Hungary, but fear the four Mercs are going to run away with things, I was pleased to see a Williams up into the second qualifying but then remembered the banner image, what is also great to see are McLaren getting it together and Renault doing well, Chris, When he's excited, he sounds like a severely wounded barnyard animal and, amazingly, seems proud of this rapid pace, as though it's unique and admirable. There are rumors, as you suggest, that adult diapers are always on hand. If you proposed to Lee McKenzie, you'd have a personal presenter with charm and decorum.

Goodness me Carl, where on earth did you dig that picture up from? Unfortunately the anchor man for the UK C4 broadcast of F1 who goes by the name of Steve Jones really is unsuited to the role and it is made manifestly more distasteful by the stupid childish antics that he and the other fools seem to think is what adults wish to see. I haven't actually watched any of their recent "shows" as it is too hard to stomach; so it comes to something when I prefer watching S*YF1 instead thanks to the benevolence of the internet .

bless you Carl, I am a happy man now,
John, oh I do agree, it seems they [C4] are caught in a time warp, "it's all lads mate" - no it isn't - I cannot watch it, I just cannot stomach this Jones fellow, grow up, but I understand DC's company produce the 'show' as opposed to programme, oh for Lee, I mean to present of course....

Current rumour going around this evening that Sebastian Vettel has been signed up by Aston Martin (formerly known as RP and endless other names) replacing Checo Perez. I bet Tonto had a hand in that little lot!

I bet Tonto had a hand in that little lot! I think you are right Charles. Tonto and Vettel were seen in earnest conversation over the weekend. I hope it materialises as Seb should be in F1. For some reason it appears he has been sent to Coventry by most of the F1 teams and I am not sure why. Have Ferrari done a hatchet job on him or has Todt jr done a hatchet job on him? It just seems odd to me.

The fact that Snr is just one of many wealthy investors in the team means that the young one is not bullet proof. The line up of Vettel & Perez would be an extremely strong one which would definitely take the team forward. I am also wondering if the Vettel deal is only for one year with the possibility if he regains his best form a move then to MB in 2022 with the all new regulations.
