The seven years of 1967 to 1973 were my favourite years for Le Mans type cars.

In a way a strange choice as it wasn't that successful or last that long, the 512S might have been more appropriate but a lot of Fly versions in the past!! I have heard that the Penske 512M is next, wonder if it will be covered in silver tank tape as it was at Daytona . It could be a trio of models to include Elford's spinning Porsche 917 Donohue slowed to avoid and the Porsche 911 that rammed him for his troubles, an obvious Stuttgart conspiracy

A short clip of the 1970 Spa 1000km race.

I will start with adding some tape on the Ferrari!

I think the Le Mans cars went through several highs as well as some terrible lows. I loved the 1954-1959 cars - really could relate to them, followed by as Rob says the 1967 -1973 era and then it went into a bit of a lull for me, until the time of the turbos vs the Jags - with Porsche 956/962 vs the Jags, the Mercs and eventually the Pugs, so many great cars and great drivers, all three really golden era's but to choose between the three? I adored the 917 - especially at Brands 1970, but by the tiniest of margins it has to be the group c era that I would select for my favourite period
Rene, as ever I am in awe,

The friendly hug for good luck between teammates as Siffert and Rodriquez approach the first turn gladdens my heart

I will start with adding some tape on the Ferrari! How can someone as talented as Pedro Rodriguez ram another car three times in quick succession unless blinded by red mist?

I think it Seppi who said of his team mate Pedro after their duelling for position at Spa. "the little bastard tried to kill me".

Superb Rene, really special. You did a great job on the McLaren which is not as easy as you make it look. Thank you for your very kind comments, Carl, always appreciated.

Ever since I had a slot car track I started making my own bodies to create cars that were not available commercially. Most of the cars I made when I was a kid are lost but I still have a couple like the two below. The chassis are Carrera Servo, 1:40 cars that could switch lanes. I made the bodies from thin cardboard and the logos on a copy machine. Don't know exactly how old these are but certainly from a very long time ago. I think they still look quite good though.

Those are very impressive Rene. I tried it with a Ferrari 312P but could never get the body to stay on.
