Some very interesting new releases from Policar coming soon. What excellent news . I have not purchased any slot car models for some time now as i have been concentrating on my static model collection but I think, no I will definitely be getting the first two. I was never a fan of that Ferrari with the full width nose, although I did like the more traditional version. Ronnie's Monaco winner from 1974 looks very good indeed . Seppi's BRM P160 looks stunning and is certain to sell very well. Yes, the Lotus and BRM look fantastic. As for the Ferrari, you might remember I build the wide nose version myself a while back from a white kit. I think mine looks better.

In keeping with the memory of the late great Tony Brooks I was reminded that back in the mid 00's Scalextric made what I feel to be an excellent model of his 1958 Vanwall. I have one boxed away in storage so sadly cannot photograph it here, it is a beautiful model and captures the car and driver superbly. Here is a photo of the model from the web, the only thing I don't like is the chrome wheels, they were matt silver on Tony's Spa winning car.

That is a beautiful model. I have the Stirling Moss car but unfortunately not this one. Must see if I can get hold of one... The Maseratis by Scalextric are also superb.

I also have the Stirling Moss Vanwall and two Maserati 250F's René which I agree are wonderful models even if George Turner was scathing about the shape of the Maserati. The Jean Behra 250F is beautiful and the driver figurine of him is an astonishing likeness, probably one of the best slot car models made commercially. The other is the JM Fangio car that I bought without a box but in excellent condition. It would be good if scalextric did a few more of these beautiful 1950's front engined Grand Prix cars, i realise they cannot do any Ferrari's as Carrera have exclusive rights to those apparently, shame!

Scalextric have done one 50's Ferrari, the 1951 375 driven by José Froilan Gonzalez. A very nice model and also in this case the driver figure looks very good. A bit chubby like José. I too have those two Masers and also the white Jo Bonnier car. Again very good. I actually don't know what the current status is re. the Ferrari rights. Policar does classic F1 Ferraris and Slot.it will release the 126 C2 and a wonderful 512M soon. But it doesn't say Ferrari on the base plate... a rights issue? The model looks wonderful though.
The Carrera models are generally too toy like if you ask me.

I also have the excellent 1951 375 of the "Pampas Bull" another very good slot car model, I would have liked an Alberto Ascari version as well but sadly no. Such a shame that scalextric did not feel fit enough to do and Alfa Romeo 159 to match with he Ferrari 375. The Joakim Bonnier Maserati 250F looks very pretty in that unusual colour scheme, a Masten Gregory Centro Sud 250F would also have been a good choice. I like the look of the Slot-It Policar Ferrari 512M, interesting they chose the Chris Craft Sandeman car, but they make some strange choices with model versions. I would say that by leaving the Ferrari name off the packaging get around some Rights Regulations as do the making the model in kit form like Slot-It did with the 312PB.

Wauw! Amazing! René, not just "almost" - but *really* too good to use, with all those details. (But of course, the writing on the tyres could be refreshed - your handwriting would be just as good as that of the builder ...)

As a teenager at that time, Formula One was very exciting, with "ground effect", beautiful futuristic cars, and helmets that were like taken right out of "Star Wars". The evolution in motocross was also amazing during that period; so the future seemed "without limits" ...

Thanks Mikael, it is an amazing model. The car is quite heavy so not a very fast slot car but it’s not intended as a racer anyway. I should probably change the rear wheels to save the markings on the tyres if I want to do some more running.

Rene, that is just beautiful man, as Mikael says jaw dropping and that picture of Mario passing the marshal waving a flag is just so life like it could almost be real, I did check out the website and just love them - might have to start saving up for this,

I find Jim Clark's Lotus 38 also very tempting I must say.
I have two kits by Ostorero waiting to be build one day. Another Lotus 79 in JPS livery (Peterson) and the beautiful 1985 Ferrari 156 (Alboreto). One day when I have more time...
