Rene, I was right, you do have more than the works team. I always liked the look of the 1973 cars as well though didn't like the extra lights on the Le Mans version. Another really beautiful Ferrari endurance car was the 1969 312P. An absolute stunner in my eyes. The coupe was very pretty but I preferred the spyder.

What a collection of Ferrari 312PB's, that is some devotion . Of course it was Sloter that manufactured some of those models, and I am certain that they were then passed on to SRC for the later releases as Sloter were wound up as a company. Maybe some of the people who were involved went from one company to another which appears to have happened quite a lot with the Spanish slot car manufacturers.

brilliant, my word Rene, the patience you must have is incredible, I can only stand back in awe, Thanks Chris. But in all honesty, these Ferraris are not hand build. I bought them ready and finished to race so the only thing I did was burn money. The patience is with my wife...

It is the way we chaps are René, we just love our "toys" . I must be a pretty bad case as I have more than one hobby or interest and am always adding to my "things". Model cars are one interest that has been with me for years, and then there are the motorcycles; photography; power tools & machinery; computer etc' and now drones. Not forgetting the animals and farm equipment either of course. As I say to people "you are only here once, and this isn't a test run".

A very impressive collection, René. A great hobby, without a doubt. It would be interesting to learn about the various corners and sections of your track. Have you modelled them all after actual locations? Some parts are clearly from Monaco, but for other, more green, sections, it's less clear where they're from. (Sorry on beforehand if I have missed this from earlier posts.) Mikael

ah Rene, didn't realise they were bought in, but still awesome
i was also talking more systemically - about the circuit. the background and the passion, but still full of respect and would echo Mikael's questions as find the whole thing fascinating and something i would love to develop
John. boys and toys, I have lost count of the number of times i have either heard, "you love motor racing more than me" or "you love your motor bike etc" or one or two of my other passions, such my love of cinematic history, another collection of 1st video's then DVD's and of military history have caused similar outbursts and complaints and now, I just indulge myself -
I'll write elsewhere about this month's MS which I got yesterday but Max Oxley has done a piece on Scott which is interesting and respectful, I still think we will see him back on the MOtoGP grid in the next few years

It's not only the model cars and slot car track. Over the years, I spent money on real cars (Alfas), bass guitars & equipment, my tropical fish tank with all the technical stuff, computers, cameras and numerous gadgets!

It's a good question about the various corners but in fact no corner is an actual replica of a real corner or track section. Yes, the hairpin has this Monaco look and feel but even this part is not like the real corner. The various sections are more impressions from real tracks. There is some Monaco in there but also a bit of Spa and a bit of Monza. But again, more like an impression than an exact replica, more a Van Gogh than a Rembrandt. What I did try to do was to create sort of realistic proportions and view points within the limited space. But this only works when you look at it from a low perspective, so level with the track. But it's table high so when you sit on a chair you have about the right view.
I have pictures of the building process somewhere so I will do a more extensive post on this.

It would definitely appear that way René . In having a hobby that contains tropical fish you have something in common with "Super Swede", that was his passion and so unlike a racing driver. One only has to view your amazing slot car track and know that you were art trained, it is not just the beautiful scenic work but the fact that you view if from certain perspectives to give the feel of reality. It is a work of art and I for one would love to see the build process on here. Gadgets René I love them and cannot resist any ones that take my fancy; fortunately, or maybe not, Mrs JC is even worse and is constantly purchasing "little" gadgets that she sees online, some for me and many for her in the kitchen .

I didn't know that about Ronnie and keeping tropical fish, cool. I knew from Georg Loos, the German team owner/driver, he kept tropical fish (see video below at 2.20) and there was another driver but I forgot who. And I know Riccardo Patrese collected model trains!
Mrs JC is even worse.. haha! You should be glad. But I have nothing to complain about either as my Mrs is also a very creative person who underdstands the need for expression and how a person can be absorbed by a passion. Live and let live.

Hi guys talking about different hobbies, have a look at this from my life in SA. Fantastic stuff Rob! Thanks so much for sharing, I really enjoyed that. And I was so naive to think you only did model cars! What an amazing set-up you have there and your modelling skills are truly outstanding. I really like it when you talk about sitting in your car and looking at a dirty or weathered truck and immediately translate that in your head to your models. So recognizable.
I always tend to look at the world through hobby and/or professional eyes; colors, contrasts, shapes, weathering and more. When you build something to scale or do an aquascape or design a logo or corporate identity, you need your imagination to work. Like you say in the movie, that never really stops.

My goodness Rob that is epic, and as René says thank you for sharing; an absolute delight to watch the film and see your amazing handiwork.
So you have joined René; Chris and I in the realms of "boys & their toys"; what a group we are!
