Just a quick update on the Libra re-build. I've cleaned up the front bulkhead and put all the newly refurbished bits back on so I'm making some good progress now. List of work completed since the last photos include: Front suspension wishbones and pick up points blasted, powder-coated and re-fitted with new joints and bushes. Quick steering rack fitted (height adjusted for optimum bump steer measurement). All new re-routed hard brake lines fitted. Mock up anti-roll bar fitted (actual bar still being fabricated by Track Developments). Heater box stripped, cleaned and re-fitted. New larger radiator fitted and pipework altered. Adjustable fan control system fitted with new high capacity SPAL fan. Bleed valve sourced (from USA) and fitted to simplify filling the cooling system. Inner wing panels cleaned, painted and re-fitted. Wiring loom stripped, re-made and refitted where necessary, including removing a lot of unused wiring and general tidying up. Pedal box assembly powder-coated and re-fitted. Windscreen removed (replacement on order). You'll notice that the front upright / hub assemblies are not yet fitted - these are away having Lotus Elise motorsport bearings fitted and I hope to fit these along with the AP 4 pot brakes with huge discs over Easter (should stop well). Some pics below.

That is looking very good Jamie, you've not been sitting still! Have you done all the changing, fitting and assembling yourself or do you have help?

You are doing a marvellous job Jamie, a wonderful project that will be very special when finished.
The yellow colour looks fantastic and must be very close to that of my Lotus Elan S4, something about small sports cars in this colour.
Keep the pictures coming I am loving it.

Great job, Jamie! Your project car is clean as a whistle and sharp as a thistle.

Thanks René Other than the powder-coating and press fitting bearings it’s all my own work. I really enjoy the car building aspect and I’ve got a well equipped garage with sand blasting, painting, welding equipment, a small lathe etc so I try and do it all. My eldest son or father-in-law are willing helpers when I need someone to hold a spanner 😁

Yes John, yellow is a great colour for a small sports car. Is your S4 all yellow or two tone?

Jamie, Just all yellow with silver bumpers, the genuine two tone ones were Sprint versions although some owners have painted standard S4/3's to look like a Sprint, which isn't cool. John

I got my uprights back last week so put a few hours in on Sunday morning to get them and the brakes fitted and get the car back on it’s wheels. The steering tied rods are not correct so these are temporary and it needs brake lines and setting up etc but getting the car back on all four wheels feels like a good milestone. Next step is to top off all the fluids and fire the engine 👍

So, a quick update..... I’ve actually managed to get quite a lot done on the car recently though much of it you wouldn’t necessarily realise as it looks similar to the last pictures I shared with you. I did get the engine to fire and it runs like a dream, though I haven’t got a full exhaust on the car yet so it’s just running straight off of the 4-2-1 manifold......it’s a tad loud 😌 Had a fair bit of trouble to start with which I eventually traced to a faulty immobiliser unit, a real pain but she fired straight up when I hot-wired the starter motor relay 👍 I’ve since fitted a new modern immobiliser unit which involved quite a bit of re-wiring.....also done a lot of work on the electrics in general as everything was essentially untested until the engine was running. It’s all good now and everything is working as it should. The cooling system also needed work and I had to re-work the remote thermostat housing to get the system working properly. Brakes and clutch are fully plumbed and bled so the car now moves under its own power - woo hoo! I’ve attached a link to a video I did for you at the weekend below. Just a short clip of the car firing up and a walk round 👍 Next step is to trailer the car to the exhaust fabricators, fit the windscreen, basic set up, fit the seats and seatbelts, MOT then get it on the road! After that will be a trip to the interior trimmers, a visit to Track Developments for a full set up session and anti-roll bar fitment, then use the car a bit before sorting out the bodywork and re-painting next year....... www.dropbox.com/s/rpmfydkehwdkj7c/IMG_0826.MOV?dl=0
